veterans
I hate that Sleater Kinney is up against Radiohead; they don't stand a chance...IMO they're better than some of the other vets, but not Radiohead.

It's probably not fair for me to vote for the veterans here since I haven't heard most of the bands on the other lists. I just know I couldn't dig 'em(there's that word again! as much as U2, Radiohead, Wilco, Pearl Jam, RHCP and Sonic Youth. Shit, after consideration, I don't see how anyone wouldn't vote for the Veterans. How could anybody? Uh-oh. I'll shut up now. I'm being absurd, talking about bands I've never heard. Oh shit, that rhymes. Hope nobody makes it their quote on the bottom of their posts.

They're all good, though, for me, the USA bracket lacks strength in depth compared to the rest. That may be 'cos decent US artists are more likely than Euros to operate as solo artists.

When I look at the Canadian list, you could almost take an artist from each pairing and put them in the top 10 artists from all brackets for 1998 onward. Againts the vet list it's pushing it, but against thepost 1998 output from the Vets, I would still put this 7 ahead.
New Pornographers Metric Constantines DFA 1979 Arcade Fire Stars BSS
Are as good or better than most bands

Brackets. I am at a total loss, here. Have I killed off too many brain cells? I don't understand any of this bracket stuff.
8 Someone explain it to me 13 although I kinda like the mystery
4 pairing up bands is fun 12 has anyone seen my underwear?
2 do you really think Riley knows Geddy? 18 if so ask him when's the next studio release
6 Well that about wraps up my involvement here 17 I feel left out in the cold, like Rudolph :\

The US and Canadian brackets are the strongest...that said, I think the Euro bracket is a sham.

The US and Canadian brackets are the strongest...that said, I think the Euro bracket is a sham. See, I think it's the one I'd listen to most. Even the bands in the US list I do love are either half-British (Interpol) or sound so Euro it's unreal (Killers). I think there's a cultural thing at play here. It's interesting with an exercise like this to see what distinctive sounds come out of each area and seel there.
