Well, I love AC/DC, and believe you me, they put some absolute crap out. Fly On the Wall is pure shite! Watered down, half-ass, going through the motions, crap version of Back In Black. From 1973 to 1980 AC/DC was near flawless, and full of energy; and they embodied rock. No frill, no opera (Kinks at this time), no glam, no make-up, just bash your fist into something, straight forward blue collar rock. Fly on the Wall was pure complacency, and just a bore to listen to. This album easily makes my list of bad album by a good band. Wha? You didn't care for the tune "Sink The Pink" even?? Just kidding...I'm one who tends to stick with the Bon Scott years, though I'll give BnB a nod for "Shoot To Thrill" and an acceptance of a great bar tune with "Shook Me All Night Long" -- the majority of the remainder seemed to me a downslide into mediocrity.

WOAH! This board is cool! Oh, its by GOOD bands, bands I actually like...This is gonna be tough, cos if it has one great song on it I cant complain too much.....
RED ROSE SPEEDWAY is NOT AS BAD as MCCARTNEY II! McCartney II sucks! Red Rose Speedway has "Get On The Right Thing" on it...
Bob Dylan! Geez thats an easy target!
10. Lou Reed-Metal Machine Music -- "Influential" "A piss off to music critics etc" --I call it stupid. I bought the damn thing too hoping I would find something in it. I really don't appreciate musicians when they pull that shit at the expense of their fans and their fans money (not all music collectors are hoarders and spendthrifts man!). But who is worse the consumer or the person that pays for it? I learned from it though. It really does not belong here-some other Lou albums could take the hit...Alot of em....
09. Bob Dylan-Dylan--I listen to it once in awhile if I am feeling depressed--cos this shit cracks me up--his cover of "Big Yellow Taxi" is TERRIBLE!
08. Anything past Self Titled (circa 1983) by Genesis. By the same token they had reached their artistic peak a decade earlier.
07. McCartney II-This album sucks. "one of These Days" the last track ALMOST saves it but no....
06. DRI-Thrash Zone After the awesome dumbheaded FOUR OF A KIND they release this plodding boring mess. FOOK Thrash Zone.
05. Leonard Cohen--All albums after Various Positions. Don't try to tell me they are good cos they are not. Any one of us here could do better at a kareoke bar on any given night drunk OR sober. Dont try to tell me Cohens last album was good. That would just be pretentious--Cos it wasent. That is NOT music. Even IM YOUR MAN sucks. It does. Straight down the line. The lyrics are cool but the music--what is that? There is none! This shit is spoken word. How many of you here have heard Cohens first album? If you havent I wish you would.
04. Neil Young-Are You Passionate? -- from the record cover on down. It sucks. I favor the Journey Through the Past before this....And I hate to put Neill down too! TRANS could easily be on this list--pretty much ALL of his Geffen output....But this takes the cake. TRANS makes me laugh.
03. Journey-Raised on Radio--Journey is pretty much a crappy slick band to begin with (not in their early stages though!--plus I know 50% of you throw some old school Journey on every couple of years) but I have run outta targets and my mom loved Journey! She put this on and she was really pissed off that it sucked so bad. She even-my mom-wrote them a letter. How can you go from Frontiers to THIS? she asked. I was mad too, at the age of 12, journey pissing my mom off. years later I found this for a buck and TRIED to listen to it. Nope. I only post this out of respect for my mom whom I havent seen for 13 years.
02. YES-Open Your Eyes/big generator/Talk--Those three albums--not very good. Slicker than pre game hockey ice and ten times worse than Anderson Walkman Buttholes and Howe.
01. Magic Time by Van Morrison--I know most of you on this boards probably don't give Van a second thought, but I really do like his later stuff--no matter how adult contemporary it may be. This sucks. I have a pretty open mind--but this sucks. PERIOD. I know musicians get old but there is just NOTHING HERE.
There it is. I dont like hating music or albums. I like to explore the Street Legals and the Self Portraits, even Saved! Cos they are, at least to my demented mind, experiments. I do not like music that is based around fashion and clique. Fook that.
the name of this board is WORST right?
Pablo Honey by Radiohead does not get the hit cos of its second side ("I Can't" "Vegetable" "Blow Out")
Pearl Jam has not put out an unlistenable album yet--my least favorite is VS. but its not BAD!
Bruce Springsteen would be a likely candidate but why? THE GHOST OF TOM JOAD is a great song. Right there the album is saved. I actually heard the rage Against the Machine version first, but I found Bruce Springsteens version to be darker and more powerful.....
AC/DC has been putting out the same album with variations since Back In Black--FLY ON THE WALL is one of my favorites! Oh shit...that AC DC album with Thunderstrck needs to be on my list...

One great song saves a record but I’m Your Man sucks?? C’mon, wayved!! When they get around to putting out Cohen’s boxset, with all those great songs from his first seven records, it’ll have, MINIMUM, four songs from I’m You Man, and maybe as many as six. "First We Take Manhattan", "Ain't No Cure for Love", "Take This Waltz" and "Tower of Song", for sure. "Everybody Knows" and "I’m Your Man" I could also see. "Take This Waltz" – SUCKS?!?
BTW, I like The Future, too. ("The Future", "Democracy")
---
More clunkers by credible artists:
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Nocturama
Elvis Costello and the Attractions – Goodbye Cruel World I’d nominate this one as one of the most flagrant examples ever of abusing great songs in the making of a crap record. ("Worthless Thing", "Peace in Our Time", "Room With No Number", "The Comedians", "The Deportees Club".)
Aimee Mann – Lost in Space Follow-up to Bachelor No. 2. Once too many times back to the same well.
Morrissey – Someone mentioned the atrocious Kill Uncle, I’ll throw in Maladjusted.
The Rheostatics – Night of the Shooting Stars The Rheos pairing up with producer Ian Blurton (aka "God") seemed inspired but it just did not work in the studio.
Roxy Music – Flesh and Blood One great song ("Over You"). Otherwise, a band running out of ideas.
Sloan – Navy Blues
Smashing Pumpkins – Machina/The Machines of God
Veruca Salt – Resolver Disqualified on account of obsessive bitterness toward a former band member. Wilco – A Ghost is Born We’ve discussed this already, right?

Wilco – A Ghost is Born We’ve discussed this already, right? Yeah, and I thought that we concluded that you were wrong. So what are you trying to pull here?

Ditto.
I like the Pumpkins Machina album isn't all that terrible, but I certainly think Billy should have just chosen the best songs instead of sticking with his concept so strictly. The second album that was released through the internet was even better and together they could have made one great record.

It's still better than Adore...
As for what I've heard of the new Morrissey, it's as terrible as anything he's ever done.
Richard Ashcroft- Keys the the World. What a disappointment.
Dandy Wars- Odditorium/Warlords or Mars. Biggest disappointment of '05. But at least "Smoke It" rocked. In a way, that made it worse, though, because on the strength of "Smoke It" I thought the album had potential.
And Navy Blues is top notch, just maybe close to the bottom of the Sloan catalogue. I'd put it over Action Pact still, though.

I'd have Ten and VS on my list. I think I'm the only Pearl Jam fan on the planet who doesn't like those two albums. I think a dislike of Ten and Vs. is extremely, extremely common with PJ fans these days.

Wilco – A Ghost is Born We’ve discussed this already, right? Yeah, and I thought that we concluded that you were wrong. So what are you trying to pull here? Funny, I remember the conclusion being that AGIB was a huge disappointment, with just a couple of worthwhile tracks. Can't believe that I left Goodbye Cruel World off my initial list ... and I even paid full price for that LP when it was released. You cannot imagine my despair as the extent of the disaster became apparent ... it was the first time that El had really let me down. I mean, he'd released other albums that weren't "great" (Trust, Punch the Clock), but this was just awful ... truly horrid. Ayinger - I've only heard the obligatory singles by Van the Man, so I can't really comment on his ups and downs. It's obvious that his best stuff is indeed fantastic, and by all accounts when he's off, he's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off. As a huge Dylan fan, I feel your pain.

Funny, I remember the conclusion being that AGIB was a huge disappointment, with just a couple of worthwhile tracks. Yeah but you know, thing is, I don’t even like the songs on AGIB that are typically mentioned as the good ones. Fundamental problem with that record: Wilco is never going to cut it trying to be Neu. I know it was widely despised from the day it was released and I haven’t listened to it in years, but I never really minded Adore…. On Sloan: there was always a point up to which I was OK with their bent for revivalism. I do like a few songs on Navy Blues but it crossed that line big time. Not that I wouldn't have hated a song like "Chester the Molester", anyway, from the goof-off title on down. As for Action Pact, simple, yes, but it makes me happy. Sometimes that is all that is required.

I love "Chester the Molester." Just dripping with catchiness. And yeah, Navy Blues "makes me happy", which is the most I can say for it.
As for Action Pact...I really liked it when it first came out, and still think that "Hollow Head" and "The Rest of My Life" are among their best. But I got bored with it pretty quickly and, through no fault of its own, about half the album was blared incessantly on Chili's Radio when I worked there, so the album reminds me of smelly garbage full of half-eaten fajitas and sour cream, dorky managers yelling at people to "hustle", fat people scarfing down enormous platters of country fried steak, and punk ass high school kids trying to walk out on their tabs.

I liked the new Ashcroft when it came out, but it's actually pretty lame.

Is there a way to change the name of this Thread? I was thinking something like 'Bad Songs/Albums By Good Artist'; instead of top ten worst albums...
