Select Track: "High 'N' Dry (Saturday Night)" Comment: Never let it be said I can't throw a bone to my favorite whipping boys. This kicks ass in spots. In sucks ass in spots too, but refreshing to know they rocked some before the embarassment of Hysteria

Select Track: "Photograph" Comment: Despite a few cool tracks, this is where shit started to unravel for DL and ultimately where commercial metal became way too prominent. Three Mutt Lange produced albums in one night. Let's call that about fucking three beyond acceptable quota. At least they were on the more respectable side of his career.

Select Track: "Nowhere Town" Comment: One of the last great country albums released before the 90's pretty person country onslaught.

Select Track: "Someday" Comment: Along with Yoakam, they started a revivalist movement that got cut short. This album was a quintessential part of that short lived ambition.

Select Track: "Would I Lie To You" Comment: Maybe not their best effort, but that cut rules. I've always had a strange fascination with Annie Lennox without ever owning or listening to much of her music. Her voice and presence is terribly sexy and this outing captures that perfectly if nothing. Beer count: 6

Select Track: "Brain Dead" Comment: Aside from Death Angel perhaps the most underated band and release from the 80's Bay area thrash scene. Fucking ruthless.

Have a big (BIG) cabnet next to my computer with some of my lps....opening the doors and pulling out a few I wish I could toss on right now as I don't have the same on CD. I'd have to play the following in my head:
Reconcile - THE CALL ("I Still Believe") Evening Of The Harvest - TRANSLATOR (title track!) ...god why isn't this on disc???? Hughes/Thrall - HUGHES/THRALL BAND ("First Step Of Love") former Deep Purple/Pat Travers mates bang out a few On To Victory - HUMBLE PIE ("Fool For A Pretty Face") FuCkIn' A !!!!!!!!!! Rising Force - YNGWIE MALMSTEEN ("Black Star" or "Evil Eye") can't recall which is one I want to hear but I've had a few and fuck if I'd pull this out if I hadn't!! Live Nude Guitars - BRIAN SETZER ("Love Is Repaid By Love Alone") sheeeiiittt!! Hadn't thought of this album in YEARS but this tune just kicks!!! dammit -- time to see if Limewire has it.... The Confessor - JOE WALSH (title track) again a junker lp but the song itself has its moments Sin After Sin - JUDAS PRIEST ("Dissident Aggressor") I blew out a speaker TWICE to this song right when the solo kicks in! Mechanical Resonance - TESLA ("Modern Day Cowboy") oh man, NOW WE'RE TALKIN'!!! Before that fuckin' wussy cover of "Signs" --- where's me Jack N Coke??? Especially For You - THE SMITHEREENS ("Blood & Roses") All The World's A Stage - RUSH ("In The End") Aldo Nova - ALDO NOVA ("Fantasy") --- okay,,,,people are gonna start throwin' shit at the computer screens now --- I better stop right now....besides, it's hard to read all the frickin' spines of these album jackets....to tell you the truth, I wasn't even certain that I HAD this album....guess I can rest safely now knowing that at some point in my life I doled out $1.99 for a used copy (price sticker is still on it)>

That's OK, I don't like light beers anyway! Forever Young is now number one in the Australian charts, courtesy of a cover by Aussie band Youth Group.

Select Track: "Come On Come On" Comment: The best live album ever? Probably. Few legendary bands were this lucky to catch themselves on tape as they were firing on absolutely all fucking cylinders. Oh god, I was in love with this record c. 1979(?) or so ... There's an expanded two cd version that (I guess) includes the entire set list from that night, but I've never gotten it ... If this isn't one of the greatest live albums ever, it certainly was the best one I've heard from the second half of the seventies, and it's (still) Cheap Trick's finest moment. I'd love to hear Clock Strikes Ten or C'mon C'mon right now ... BTW, GREAT thread, Riley. I think you should make this into a regular feature.
