If I had to choose a Janet song, it would be "Miss You Much". As for Madonna, "Frozen" was her finest moment, but if I had to pick an 80's track of hers it would probably be one of her really early ones. Maybe "Lucky Star" or "Into The Groove". Ya know, I've never been wild about Ms. Jackson. I'd probably have to take "Nasty" if forced to choose one. Madonna? Ray of Light is my favorite, but if I've gotta go with an eighties cut, probably Into the Groove, maybe Like a Virgin or True Blue.

Yeah, "Nasty" was cool I suppose. So was "The Pleasure Principle". Her ballads really bug me though... Madonna was much better with the slower cuts [see: Live To Tell, Take a Bow, Bad Girl]

"Like A Virgin" remains my favorite Madonna tune. Perhaps because I remain a 40 year old virgin...hardy-har-har (in the hetrosexual way.)
True Blue though is indeed a "confession."

"Let Down" by Radiohead is my favorite today. I felt like drowning in my own wasteland of self pity and I put this on. I did not feel bad anymore....this song transcends the feeling it may be trying to convey.
hey--Janet Jackson was alright--when I was in fifth grade I had a big crush on her--CONTROL was awesome! JJ FAD BAYBEE! (Im just kidding!) (I remember thinking Tears for Fears and Phil Collins were on the cutting edge in fifth grade too! I still have my bootleg cassette of Bon jovis Slippery When Wet (side A) and Europe-The Final Countdown (side B)--i thought my Soundesign tapedeck was the SHIT!
About Madonna--her best album was Like A Prayer--just cos its the only one I heard by her and it was the only reprieve I got from the Yes, Buffalo Springfield, Cocteau Twins and Janes Addiction albums i was consuming cos my girlfriend at the time loved it. "Pink Elephants and Lemonade" baybee..... I was so shy back then! I would have told her to turn it off....

Let Down is definitely my favorite track on OKC, and quite probably my favorite song by Radiohead. I like No Surprises a lot, too.

Yep, instant classic for me. Well since I'm now in high anticipation mode for the new album, I may list a few Pearl Jam songs here. Feel free to stop me if I get outta control.... Animal This is the song that really started it all for me. When 10 was released, like Public Enemy I didn't believe the hype. I thought PJ was a fad and almost instantly it seemed imitators were emerging....Anyway I warmed up to them a bit when Eddie sang w/ the Doors for the R&R Hall of Fame induction in 1993. Later that fall Pearl Jam played the 1993 MTV awards. I was curios to hear their new sound and to see if they were gonna rehash "Jeremy"....Well, that came out w/ "Animal" and fucking blew my mind. Even today it's regarded as one of, if not the best live performance at the VMAs. The riff was so dense and raw, the drummer, Dave A., was bashing the cymbals, and Eddie shaking his head, declaring it's 5 against 1, 5-5, 5 against 1..It was just nothing like I expected! And if that weren't enough, the second "Animal" wraps Neil Young comes on stage and plays "RITFW" w/ them; which has since been a staple at live Pearl Jam shows, and of course led to the album Mirror Ball.

"Kicked It In the Sun" - Built To Spill Heavenly guitar on this one, and excellent transitions. Their second best song is less than half this good to me. Their unmistakable masterpiece. "Blackout" - Muse I could say almost the same exact thing for this song except the singing would take the place of the previous listed song's guitaring as "heavenly." "Your Blue Room" - Passengers (U2 w/ Brian Eno) Although I like "Mrs. Sarajevo" even better, that song made the greatest hits collection and this one is unheard of to people who aren't into U2 as much as a fanatic like myself. It has a brilliance that causes me to study the stars at night when I hear it. It just gives me that galactic feeling, I suppose. The organ is absolutely hypnotic. "New Slang" - The Shins Hands down, the most impossible song to burn out ever. For me, at least. Could probably listen to it 50 times in a row and would still want to hear it again. It just has such a desirable laid back mood to it. It's relaxing and sincere at the same time. My style to a T. Those are the ones I feel like mentioning today, anyway.
