Hard to argue with that.

If you could touch Layla's tits while listening to my music collection, that'd be like a new big bang.

I'm not fishing for compliments people, I think I like some real crap. I have a huge soft spot for Britney Spears, I LOVE Information Society, I really love British Pop like Girls Aloud, Rachel Stevens, and other things like that. While I have a huge record collection, I think some of it would make your stomachs turn.

But that would take way too much of an effort to be objective...it would also be unnatural.
We're wired to enjoy certain things for our own personal reasons...and screw what someone else thinks.
And if we enjoy it awesomely then that's what counts...AND we create these whole other levels of enjoyment (which others often sneer at) through the experiences in our lives. Some are musical experiences giving us our own levels of understanding which someone else may not have a clue about...and some may just be through something completely removed from music.
A certain girl, say...
~
...and this from someone who loves lots of Def Leppard and can be brought to tears by opera, 2 hugely popular things among those here...and then couldn't give two shits about the Clash or the Replacements...

People think I have horrible music taste, but in all actuality I could care less.
What's cooler than being cool when your favorite artist is Madonna? Not only is her music hot, but she's hot, and her ass is hot. Not to mention, some of my favorite music is made or remixed by people she's worked with... Jacques Lu Cont, Mirwais, Peter Rauhofer, Pet Shop Boys, Prince, William Orbit, etc. And we're not just talking songs with her vocals on them.
I also like shit by other artists who try to be Madonna... Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani.
Let's also not forget... I'm obsessed with Tears For Fears, Depeche Mode, and New Order right now.
In the same breath, I can also say that I love The Beatles, Radiohead, Bjork, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Tool, System of a Down, The White Stripes, Tori Amos, Beastie Boys, Dr. Dre, David Bowie, Fiona Apple, Fugazi, The Clash, The Kills, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, and Justin Timberlake.
So there. Nothing gets better than that, in my view.
BTW, Madonna has a hot ass...

But do you wear sunglasses at night, NdY? That's the real test of awesomeness. Of course I have awesome taste in music. That just goes without saying. Some of the rest of you really need to get your ears examined, though. I mean, the fucking Doors? C'mon! BTW, other than that drug induced Lizard King thing, Bowiglou also has awesome taste in music. May your inner-shaman implode [glow=red,2,300]The End[/glow] but thank you very much..........if many of you don't know..Ken and I have extremely similar taste in music..though I'm puzzled by his liking of the Arctic Monkeys..........for me, it was completely disposable, Libertines-lite ......

I just gave myself a 'no'..and I'll tell you why...though I like many bands/artists that are somewhat predictable, such as Bowie, Beatles, Stones, Iggy, Costello, the Jam, The Clash, Talking Heads, Motown-era, REM, Replacements, Lou/VU, etc. I also love some of the songwriters that I think only Tunes and I like, such as Cat Stevens, Elton John, Neil Young, some of America, some of Loggins and Messina, Jackson Browne.....and I think most of you disparage those writers (excepting Neil Young)...hence, I have to give a 'no' vote..plus from the 60s I adored Lovin Spoonful, Hermans Hermits and the Monkees, bands most of you revile...and then as a young kid I totally got into Black Sabbath's and Led Zepplins initial releases...which again makes me uncool...........then you know my love affair with the Doors..and I LOVED Steely Dan and pre buckingham-nicks era Fleetwood Mac.......which is very non-punk..................
.............and when I'm in the car I do keep a Carpenters song on the radio
hence, you see the reason for my 'no' vote for moi

Hey! You trying to say I have crappy taste in music? Hmph. (though for what it's worth, while I do love Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel - you're on your own with America and Loggins & Messina, my friend.) Oh, but the cheesy 60s pop groups? Love. And I like the Carpenters too. So there. Apparently I'm not allowed to vote yes on this poll.

Liking the Doors means you have good taste in music BOW Actually, I think they're a bit overrated, but I still like them....It's the obsessed fans (one of whom I used to be) that drive me crazy...Once I realized the Doors were good, but not all that, is actually when I became comfortable saying I like them again...For awhile I turned my back on them b/c I thought they were uncool, but now, I just take them for what they are; a pretty good rock n' roll band who influenced a bunch of other artist.
