Video is cool / sound is almost shit -- but IMO still this band gives My Morning Jacket a run in 2008

I'm drinking and about to officially call it THIN LIZZY NITE here at the household ! Kicking it off by re-living Phil Lynott's visit to a Gary Moore show for a deeply felt "Parisienne Walkways" (which I've probably posted before, but fuck it):

Came upon this version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynn for George Harrison's R&RHOF introduction ... Pretty much what you would expect until Prince shows up and rips it a new one with only five strings at the end ... Unbelievable ...!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLmZKsWRL9E&feature=related

Prince's guitar playing prowess is often overlooked or underrated. He has a lot of talent.

Tori always makes my skin crawl...I get this fucked up feeling every time I see/hear her. Don't know quite why as she IS talented,,,,just creeps me out. Maybe 'cause sometimes I hear Adam Sandler in her vocals....
Now I remember watching that Hall Of Fame clip with Prince taking it H o M e --- about fell off the couch laughing, especially how he kinda just hands off his guitar at the end as if to say, eat THAT muthafukers! Suddenly the song wasn't a "walk thru" any longer...

That was interesting. I'd heard about this. My best friend told me about it, just the other day. In fact he was all "Billy Bob was such a dick, you should've seen it" - - my friend even told me (this is the funny part) that he wrote in with a message for Billy Bob, saying that he himself had also entered his Monster drawing to Forry Ackerman, and won inclusion of his sketch in the magazine.
To be honest, I completely see where Billy Bob is coming from, now that I've watched this. Yes he was being a jerk at the beginning - - but we all know why. I'll bet any one of us would have reacted in similar fashion, if we had attempted to make a provision of not referencing our film career, or whatnot. The DJ stepped over that line at the very beginning, and (obviously) Billy Bob just got so pissed inside that he decided then and there not to cooperate with the interviewer. I totally see how that went down - and I don't think Billy Bob was completely out of line, because of it. This clip is all about context - - you have to consider the context.
I'd like to add, that Canadian DJ was something else. What a pro. He made Billy Bob look like a retarded school bully, by contrast. And I have to hand it to the DJ for handling that situation so professionally. The man is a class act all the way. He really handled that situation well, despite his initial blunder in having crossed Billy Bob's attempt at establishing a line. (Pretty funny how BB quipped about thinking its weird to have to smoke inside a line, outside - I wonder if Billy Bob ever put 2 & 2 together, and realized he himself painted a white line to box in the DJ?)
I thought it was an extremely cool clip, maarts - thanks for posting it.

Thornton Cancels Canadian Tour
Billy Bob Thornton's band has canceled the rest of its Canadian tour after the actor compared the country's fans to mashed potatoes with no gravy in a testy interview that caused a sensation online. The Boxmasters opened for Willie Nelson Thursday in Toronto, where they were booed and met with chants of "Here comes the gravy."

liking music played by pretty girls falls in the super-shallow category for him...well, at least when I admit to it, he makes it a point to tell ME.
