Hippies are funny.
Saw that clip before ..... gets me again that Winwood's voice has hardly seemed to change. I watched the Winwood/Clapton concert this past year and have to say I much more enjoyed the songs from his catalog than those of EC. That and he surely held his own on guitar during "Dear Mr. Fantasy".

No it doesn't. The album goes on for miles and miles into the subconsciousness. Syd wished he could be so articulate.

Does this kick into "Crazy On You"??? Sorry,,,,couldn't resist.... But yeah, as you said -- good stuff and was nice to playout while I sat here trying to warm up with a cup of coffee and try to get some ache out of my muscles. Not that they're all that similar but the tune made me think of a B-Tribe disc I have:

I even have Fiesta Fatal by B-Tribe but I couldn't compare the two to be honest...
Today's little nugget:

That has to be Nina Simone singing. Have you heard the original (?) by Billy Holiday? Utterly striking....and at the time, very daring for her to perform. There's a photo in this video right at the 2:45 mark that, sadly enough, was taken in my home town. Three black teens had been jailed for a possible murder and a rape....within hours a mob had gathered outside, eventually storming the jail and lynching two of the youths on the courthouse square. To this day, I can't go down there without thinking of that....just the sight of the building.

I have heard several renditions of Billie including one stunning live-version but when I saw this clip and heard Nina doing this equally moving version i couldn't pass it by.
Some harrowing visuals and thanks for the added commentary that just enhanced that, my friend...it never ceases to amaze me what feral behaviour our species exhibited over the ages.

I actually picked up a book at a library sale two weeks ago that chronicles the hangings. Half way through it now and it is indeed amazing hear how people acted.....then you add in how you live RIGHT THERE and even recognize surnames of some of those involved, that you've brushed up against some of the families....
No one in "the mob" was ever convicted. Even though they'd stormed the jail, broke down its doors and walked right past the Sheriff & his men, no one could later recognize any of the participants.

Why wasn't this guy like the biggest star in the world ? (and WHY do I have to remember shit like this?)

Don't think I've ever come across these guys before....but it's almost certain Brian Setzer & the rest of the Stray Cats probably did. They aped almost this entire act 20 years later. Won't say I haven't heard better guitarists but it's more the SHOW here---that, and it's not every day you see an Indonesian rock band from 50 years ago....

They were awesome in their heyday and very big in the Netherlands- in fact they were credited to be one of the forefathers of Dutch rock 'n roll. Together with the Blue Diamonds they represented a Moluccan influence in the popular music movement in Holland and they helped certainly to heal the fractious relationship they had with the Dutch population.
I was just reminded how great this artist was:
