kenneth...be brutally honest..you knowing my incredibly narrow-minded rockist taste, would I like jack johnson?........or would this philistine just go nappy-wappy?
phil-meister...I very much like Ry Cooder...Getz/Gilberto is nice, but I hate to say it.....it's background music (for me) at best
you would think at may advanced age (square root of 2500) that I would gravitate towards blues, jazz, classical, square-dancing, polka, etc..but I still just like Rock...hence, why I am elated I am downloading the Mats right now
wonder if I'll ever grow out of this tunnel vision?!!!

stupid question time: the Mats file are in WINRAR format so I downloaded the 30 day trial version of WINRAR, which notifies me that I have 11 days left before I have to buy it..this is different from WINZIP where it seems you can use the 'evaluation' version forever...anyway, suggestions re: WINRAR in lieu of purchasing it?
thank you!!

Yeah, you can keep using the evaluation version, it'll just ask if you want to buy it every time you use it.

I have no idea about WinRar, but you can actually use WinZip to open .RAR files. You just have to do it in WinZip Classic instead of WinZip Wizard.

Jack Johnson is mediocre NPR pop rock. If you have authentic Rockists taste you will find that it is basically background music (DadRock for BabyBoomers who are trying to act like they actually like any recently released music). I suggest you dont knock yourself out "trying" to like it...

Bow -- I don't know what you'd think of Miles' Jack Johnson ... I'm sure that you'd like some of the shorter pieces though. I'd suggest that you d/l the first disc and listen to a few of the shorter cuts. If you like those, then try the rest.
At best you'll find it hypnotic, at worst downright irritating. But you won't be put to sleep by it (even if it bores you), there's just too much squanky guitar and funky bass for that. My advice would be to try it in small doses and see what you think.
