Is Electric Co the Under the Blood Red Sky version? No. It's from a show in London in December 1982 (the bootleg I've got is called An Electric Company Onstage). It's similar, but not identical, to the one on Under a Blood Red Sky. I've got the complete show, BTW.

Under a Blood Red Sky is one of my favourite live albums of all time. And I'm not usually crazy about live records. But I remember having that on vinyl and loving it. 8 songs, all killer no filler. It's the album that made me a U2 fan. 'The Electric Co' is awesome too. Nice pick there.

FWIW, Rock and Roll is, as its name would indicate, kinda the more "conventional" straight-up rock and roll album, tuneful, driving, standard song structures, etc etc. It definitely rocks, and it's still quirky. It also features Sally Timms on vocals on a number of songs, with her beautiful and haunting voice. Fear and Whiskey is an odder album; some say it's the first alt.country album ever. It's definitely a "country" album of some sort, but a very idiosyncratic one. Honestly, if I wanted to describe the album, I'd have to say it sounds just like its title!
OK, that's it for the Mekons...now for some Gun Club...
Cheers, M

I should really YSI multiple albums every night. I haven't been so productive in ages. Just sitting here waiting for the uploads to finish, I wrote 4 additional pages of a conference paper, finished a lecture on Machiavelli, and read the editor's introduction to Hobbes' Leviathan. Woot!!!!!! Thank you YSI.

Rock and Roll is awesome. I've only had it on tape until now, and I've never been able to find it in stores. Thanks, Mary!
