Remain In Light and Fear Of Music are both flawless and pretty equal in my book. Yeah, it was a toss up for me too. Actually I forgot about the live album "the name of this band is talking heads" which is really my favorite Talking Heads album... Superfuzz Bignusts and Rocky, have you NOT every listened to 'Pipers at the Gates of Dawn'? Forget everything you know about Pink Floyd and give that disc a listen with an open-mind (and maybe a little weed). It's one of the best ten albums ever made IMO--minus thta dorky Roger Waters song inthe middle (doctor take u pthy stethescope or soemthing like that)...

Doesn't do a thing for me. Just not for me I guess.

---- Kinks - Arthur: Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire (can't believe the Kinks were left off, again further proof of how they're overlooked) I know, I know... I actually voted for them, before I voted against them...Seriously though, they should be on the list--in fact I'll go modigy my first post and add them... Also, thank you for voting for Loaded--I soooo much wanted to vote for that, but again it was a toss up and I went with VU (which wasnt even packaged and released unti 1985 I think) because VU seems to get overlooked even more than Loaded does...

I love both VU and Loaded, easily, IMO, their best albums. I listented to Bananna the other day, and really I did like it, but I think the other two are so much better! I like all 4 of their proper albums, but I rarely listen to WL/WH....I love that song though, it's one of the VU's best IMO. The version on 'Live In NY' is freaking incredible! When I need my "WL/WH" fix, I listen to this version, not the proper studio version. ----- You should post some on the Ray Davies thread....I'd like to read some of your opinions about the Kinks. While I can't speak for Dolly, I bet she'd welcome more posters on that thread.

Beatles: Revolver. Abbey Road is damn close, and Rubber Soul is right behind those two. Velvet Underground: The Velvet Underground and Nico. I can honestly vote for this, the self-titled, or Loaded. Today, I'm taking Rocky's stance that this is the most representative VU album, and I'm (once again) fascinated with Heroin, so it gets my vote today. The Who: Who's Next. Anyone who doesn't see this is deaf. Not just the best Who album, but one of the five or so best albums in rock. Not a note wrong here, not a note too many or too few. Townshend's inadvertant masterpiece. Rolling Stones: Let It Bleed or Beggar's Banquet. Pick one ... okay, I'll pick ... it's Let It Bleed. Pink Floyd: suck. Listen to Radiohead instead. REM: This is really hard ... my own conventional wisdom says AFTP, but my heart says Reckoning or Murmer. And because nothing else in rock sounds like it, my vote today is for Murmer. One of, if not THE, best debut in rock. Talking Heads: Oh boy ... one of my favorite bands, but one whose studio output isn't nearly the equal of their live work. The Name of This Band is Talking Heads and Stop Making Sense are both better than any of their studio efforts. But their best studio album is ... a toss-up between '77 and More Songs About Buildings and Food. Today, I choose the debut, '77. Led Zeppelin: suck worse than Pink Floyd. The Kinks: State of Confusion. BTW, VU isn't a proper Velvet Underground album, it's an out-takes collection. It's not bad, but it's not an album in the same sense that VU + Nico, White Light/White Heat, The Velvet Underground, and Loaded are.
