I'll keep up with this third grade charade:
Yes. He. Is.
Neil Young sucks. Sucks. sucks. sucks. sucks. sucks. He wouldn't be shit if hadn't of ridden the coat tails of Stephen Stills in Buffallo Springfield and CS&N. So......again........
NEIL YOUNG SUCKS.

Sometimes. And other times he sucks. This often happens on the same record, and sometimes in the same song. The words "wildly erratic" always come to my mind when I hear the name "Neil Young."

"Coat tails of Stephen Stills"? I don't really care if you like him or not but this is ridiculous claim.
He rocks way more then he sucks.

Neil Young rocks? Yeah like the rocking motion of my saw cutting logs from listening to his horrible records. I'd give the guy a heart of gold to just stop singing.

I also have to admit that I really really find Tom Petty to be slightly above boring. The "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" and "American Girl" are great songs, but I have always had a hard time getting into him.

I'd think you'd at least give the guy props for Arc.

...or the Dead Man soundtrack, that seems up your alley.

Eh, I listened to the "Dead Man" soundtrack and thought it was nothing more than Neil Young trying desperately to do an early Frusciante solo record. "Arc" has it's moments, I will give it that and there are a few Crazy Horse tunes that are pretty good. For the most part though, the guy makes me want to go to sleep, until he sings and then it's just torture.

I love both Echo and Hard Promises, but Bow, how can you say these are better than Damn the Torpedoes? Century City, Don't Do Me Like That, Here Comes My Girl, Even the Losers, Refugee ... especially Refugee (one of the very finest rock singles ever, IMHO). Damn the Torpedoes is practically "Tom Petty's Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" ... Agree with you completely on Costello and Peter Gabriel, though. Those are both great, great records. well kenneth, I went to a club last night soley dedicated to songs by Petty and the Heartbreakers from many San Diego bands/artists........and though they played Century City, etc. it is the songs from Echos (Room with a view) or Wildflowers or Hard Promises or some from Learning to Fly that most resonated...I do very much like Damn the Torpedoes, but there is an emotional resonance in the other albums, a poignancy that is not quite there for Damn the Torpedoes.......not quite the introspection that you get on Echos..

Neil Young sucks. He wouldn't be shit if hadn't of ridden the coat tails of Stephen Stills in Buffallo Springfield and CS&N. I'll give you that ol' Young has put out some miserable tunes at times but I think his recorded works stand out above average to what Stills has done. Mind you that I say that in some DEEP respect towards Stills as that man is a great gifted guitarist (k-rist: he had both Clapton AND Hendrix showing up on record just to play with him!) but he fuckin' pisses me off with his own pedestrian ways. Maybe Young just feels the need to be in the spotlight but damn I wish Stills would record the seamless album that he probably has in him.....it's been a long time since Manassas,,,,,

Beatles- White Album Velvet Underground- Bleh The Who- I don't care Rolling Stones- What's up with all the old man bands? Let it Bleed, I spose. Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here REM- Worst band ever. Talking Heads- Remain in Light Led Zeppelin- Sigh. The Kinks - Seriously. Black Sabbath - Paranoid? Eh. Pearl Jam - Vs. Radiohead - invented beer. David Bowie - Low Neil Young - Meh. Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run. Beach Boys- Pet Sounds cause it makes me happy Lou Reed - Transformer, if I have to choose. God, this is the worst list ever. Nirvana - Bleh. The Clash - London Calling Blondie - Parallel Lines Iggy Pop - Lust For Life Steely Dan - Are you people fucking kidding me? Don't they only have one song? Fleetwood Mac - Rumours U2 - War Replacements - Tim The Doors - Morrison Hotel. Haven't listened to the Doors since high school, seriously. Does anyone listen to them once they stopped smoking weed in their paren't basement? For fucks sake. Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - I have no idea. Elvis Costello - My Aim is True Faith No More - Angel Dust? I like the stuff he does with Bjork. Carry on. Mr. Bungle - Mike Patton sometimes teams up with Maynard and Thom to invent stuff. They all collaborated on inventing orgasms. Fugazi - Repeater Peter Gabriel - Fuck if I know Tom Petty - Wildflowers Tom Waits- Small Change Leonard Cohen- Does "The Essential Leonard Cohen" count? It's two discs, that's got to be worth something. Sonic youth- Daydream Nation. Not as if they have a great catalogue to choose from anyway. Their crap to brilliant ratio is skewed more than other band I can think of. Emmylou Harris- Wrecking Ball. She's lovely.

I wasn't picked on as a child, Paul, I just am not afraid to back down from my opinion that Neil Young is horrible. Period. Do you need everyone to agree with you?
