Just in case you didn't know...this is a shitload of music! So it'll take me a while to take it all in, but I'll definitely leave some feedback whenever.

In small doses perhaps with the right type of drug/alcohol combo will probably help things out some~! {looking back on some of the song lists, I really don't know what I was thinking in places....}

Where is everybody at in the mixed cd swap thing? I am up for another round whenever that happens.

So am I, but I don't think everybody has sent their CDs yet (I haven't received mine from Ken, for instance, but there's an understanding between us that it will be months down the line).

I know that this is still several months off, but I think best of 2006 might be good for the next theme? Since it'll probably be early 2007 when we do it.

I'm still voting for a "duets" theme, but not necessarily in the Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton way. It could be two solo artists together or a band with a guest or whatever. It would totally work.
The way people around here tend to buy new releases in groups, a best of '06 might have people sending each other a lot of then same stuff.
And I'm ready to start working on this right now if we can get it going soon.

My best of 2006 would be totally different from everybody else's, but yeah, I could see how that might be a problem. I don't think I could do a literal "duet" theme, but if we were to expand that to include people guesting on other band's song, then sure, that would be totally doable.
Another idea I think that may be good is an album closer mix. It would pose sequencing problems of course, but I think it would be a fun challenge.

I like Best of '06. We can try to pair people up so there won't be too much in common. Plus...well, yeah, when we do these swaps I do like to hear some music I've never heard before, but I can respect a good mix of stuff I have heard before too.

I have more music from 1956 than 2006 ...
In fact, I have exactly ZERO music made this year !

You haven't bought the latest Dylan yet, Phil?
Well, IMHO you're not missing that much. It's not horrible, but it's hardly up to his last two efforts. It's a lot closer to New Morning or Nashville Skyline than it is to Time Out of Mind or John Wesley Harding, for example.

I already have enough Dylan to keep me going for a long time ...
I spoke too soon when I said I got no 2006 releases ... because I bought Ali Farka Touré's Savane and a few other World music albums ...
