Fuzznuts,
Here’s my review of Disc One of “Size Matters”
1. Pass the Hatchet, I Think I’m Goodkind – Yo La Tengo Strange. Not meaning to imply that the music world is small. It certainly isn’t, but I picked the same song to start the long songs disc for maarts. I love this tune. Great for driving.
2. Stove By A Whale – Ted Leo + Pharmacists So this is what they sound like. Pretty good.
3. When Not Being Stupid Is Not Enough – Built To Spill One of my favorite bands around these days, but I hadn’t heard this one before. The guitars are always so dreamy on so many of their songs, and this was one of them. It gets a bit chaotic at the end, but still a good tune.
4. Oh Comely – Neutral Milk Hotel I had only heard the song, “Aeroplane Over the Sea” from these guys. I really liked this one. I like the vocals a lot.
5. Rubies – Destroyer Never heard of ‘em but I dig. Good vocals here as well.
6. No More Shoes – Stephen Malkmus Very familiar with this tune. Weird to me that Pavement’s head guy would do a song this long. But I really dig this tune.
7. 18 Wheels Of Love – Drive By Truckers Heeeelarious! Good music too.
8. It’s All Gonna Break – Broken Social Scene Glorious noise, but I could have done without some of the lyrics at the beginning. If this one is on YFIP then I've heard it before once.
9. Good Morning Captain – Slint Never heard ‘em before, but this one may be my favorite on the disc after the first track.
More to come.

Hey Ayinger, this is what the two long mixes will look like:
Disc 1 1) Idol - Special Others 2) Ichiban-boshi Kuruu - Inushiki 3) Parade - Sunny Day Service 4) Kaze - Sleep Walker 5) E - Spangle Call Lilli Line 6) Georgia - A Hundred Birds 7) Walking In The Rhythm - Fishmans 8) Hadou - Ajico
Disc 2 1) Sukhna - Rovo 2) Moonlight Journal - Ego Wrappin' 3) Shichigatsu no Uchuu-Yuuei - Keiichi Sokabe 4) Slow Motion - Polaris 5) Furyou no Mori - Blankey Jet City 6) Natsu no Mujina - Natsumen
Both mixes are pretty awesome, but then again I made them so of course I think so. They have a little of everything - rock, jazz, trance (Rovo refer to themselves as "man-driven trance"), reggae, post rock, dub, pop, dance/club music (well not literally everything, since there's no representation from hip-hop or classical or funk or whatnot but you get what I'm trying to say).
I've decided that I'm not going to be a wuss and that I will follow the rules. So yes, I will make a short mix, though I don't know if it will be good as the long mixes. But I promise that I will try. Hopefully I'll be able to mail them off to you before the next weekend.

This mix is not as awesome as either of the long mixes, but it shouldn't be that bad.
And yes, I know that my short mix doesn't contain as many songs as other people's short mixes. I'm sorry, this was the best I could do.

I'm listening to the short mix right now, and it's actually pretty good.

Fuzznuts,
On the "Size Doesn't Matter" disc, I think my favorites are the A.C. Newman and Apples In Stereo. After that, "Little Sadie" by Dylan, "Lions" by Pavement and "It's Expected, I'm Gone" by the Minutemen.

I'm listening to the short mix right now, and it's actually pretty good. "....actually pretty good" is an understatement. Brother, I've been playing these throughout the weekend and don't EVEN know where to start with comments yet.... All 3 discs are just outstanding,,,,, outFUCKIN'standing. The music itself, the blending of the songs,,,,,like riding the surface of the sea, it all seamlessly travels along from crest to crest. MUCH gratitude Ryo....gratitude and joy going on here! Look for a few choice thoughts here in the near future. (I still owe Glenn a bit more feedback on his last package too....)

I'm gonna melt your face off, Melaun. You weren't kidding. I tried to listen to the entire 20 something minute Godspeed You! Black Emperor song and my face is gone. It's gone, dude. Gone.

Ayinger - Wow, I didn't expect my mix CDs to be compared to an ocean! I figured you'd be pretty open to just about any type of music, so I aimed for variety as well as quality, with a good mix of male and female vocals, interspersed with some cool instrumentals. Glad you're liking them, and I look forward to finding out which tracks you liked in particular.

Wayved - Sure, I'd be glad to. It doesn't have to be same track listing, does it? That'd be kind of boring to do, but I'll happily compile another mix (or two) for you if you want, without any kind of thematic restrictions. Though not having any kind of restriction kind of makes it difficult in itself, but it should be fun to put together.

Or if you want the same exact track listing, I could do that too. Either way, it might be a couple of week or two before I can put it together and have them sent out.

I for one am all for it, Ryo. But who's gonna take Rocky's place, drawing names and all? You wanna?
