Just my opinion, but I think the answers should be such that most anybody with a pulse would recognize them. Then, the game is about the cloaks, rather than whether or not you know the band or the tune...

I agree. I like playing this game but I hate busting my brain to think of something only for it to be something I have never heard of before. That is NOT the point of this game IMO. If you want to show off your music knowledge, go post some fancy, obscure album covers on the 'what have you been listening to' board, where people really give a fuck. Unless some smartasses want to start another thread for 'advanced' members, then be my guest.  |

To be honest, I don't think he's showing off either. People, myself included a couple of times, post stuff that they like rather than think about something everyone knows. That post for the most part was a joke. Basically I was just saying what strat-O was saying and what I myself have said before. I hate obscure cloaks.  |

You think that's never happened to me either, with a cloak that YOU posted? It's just that unlike you, I appreciate that peole have different areas of knowledge, and I don't feel the need to work up a snit every time that happens. Also, since it looks like strat is also condemning me, who the fuck are Iron Butterfly and Wolfman Jack (from your original post)? Maybe they're commonly-known names among fiftysomething Americans, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a Japanese guy in his 20s living in Tokyo, such as myself, who would have an inkling of a clue. Yet I wouldn't have complained if they'd been posted as cloaks. I would've tried to figure them out anyway (I have nailed cloaks before where the answer was something I'd never heard of - the power of the Internet makes that possible). The band in question is the Delgados. They were nominated for the fucking Mercury Prize for Christ's sake, and I'm sorry if you've never heard of them. Yes I know that contemporary indie music (well they broke up, but they're contemporary enough) probably isn't Kool's forte, but last time I checked this thread wasn't for him and him only. Rocky, maarts, ded, and frag are also frequent participants, and I would've been very surprised if any of them had never heard of the band's existence. |

FTR, I don't know who Wolfman Jack is either. The same applies with Delgados. I don't think strat is condemning you specifically. He's speaking generally. It's just that you just happened to be the one with the pending cloak, so you naturally assumed it was aimed at you. I don't think it was. Like I said, even I'm guilty of doing it a couple of times. No harm done. So, Ryo, wanna pick the next one? |
