My Top 5 of the 90s:
1. Blind Melon 2. Smashing Pumpkins 3. Radiohead 4. Pearl Jam 5. Sonic Youth
Gah, I hate that Dinosaur Jr. didn't make my top 5. I just knew they would, but nope, SY had more good releases that decade. Even though I'd put Green Mind and Where You Been over all Sonic Youth albums, those were the only two I really care for by DJ in the 90s.
So, what're yous guys's.

I happen to like the first one about 50 times better personally.

STP were better than the majority of bands on that list, yet it wasn't an option. Why Pinkzep? Why? 1. Smashing Pumpkins -they released no "bad" albums and 2 brilliant ones. 2. U2 - For Achtung Baby alone, they make it to #2. That's how good that album is. 3. Radiohead - ^^^Ditto. Only replace AB with OKC 4. Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger and Superunknown were great. Especially BMF. 5. STP - Another "not a bad album in the bunch" band, just not as good as the Pumpkins output. Although Tiny Music... comes close. Weiland's voice is 10x better than Billy's though but Billy has a way with a melody few others do. I still don't understand why his solo album sucked so hard.

Mmmk, Drum, now I'm curious. Right now I'm buying, on average, about 2 albums a week. Whale Music is on my list. Also, while you're making recommendations to me, what would you consider to be THE Bruce Cockburn album to buy? I really dig Dancing In the Dragon's Jaws. But rather than your personal favorite(unless they're one in the same), what is his most all-around admired album. Ahem, it seems like you've answered this one before but I failed to take note. I don't know that there is such a thing as an all-round most admired Bruce Cockburn album. He's had such a long and varied career. Quite a diverse fan base, if you go to one of his shows... Really maintained the quality quotient all the way through, too. Recent albums have the same kind of vitality as the stuff he was doing 20 or 30 years ago. Quite amazing really. Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws would rank high on most fans' list. If we were running a poll, I'd expect all of these would be highly regarded as well: Humans, Stealing Fire, The Charity of Night, In the Falling Dark, World of Wonders, Nothing But a Burning Light, You've Never Seen Everything...

My top 5 of the 1990's:
1. Pearl Jam (I know this must come as a shock to most of you, but they're my personal favorite) 2. Nirvana (probably the most important band of the 1990's) 3. Beastie Boys (I consider Paul's Botique a 90's album, it surely influenced a heck of a lot in that decade....not to mention Check Your Head, Ill Communication, and Hello Nasty were all top notch too. CYH, and IC were also hugely influential -- rock/rap, rap w/ instuments, 70's retro style being brought back to the mainstream, low budget videos, etc....) 4. Radiohead (wildly influential for things that would come out a few years after....The Bends and OK Computer are two of the best albums from the 90's) 5. Is a toss up -- my personal taste would be Wilco (who are not listed) or Sleater Kinney...impact wise, I may be inclined to say either RHCP or the Smashing Pumpkins.

I'm not tough, I'm just a well-trained bar skank. Its because I hung out with metal kids in high school.
*breaks beer bottle against table, brandishes broken neck*
So who else voted for Pavement huh?...

I voted for Pavement first. They have the best output of the bands mentioned up there. Every one of their albums (all 90's) is good.

If I didn't vote for Sunny Day Real Estate, I would've gone Nirvana or PJ. I'd say PJ no problem, but Nirvana's b-sides (if you don't have B-side Themselves, find it now) and In Utero... man.
I couldn't vote Oasis, but Definitely Maybe is one of the four best albums I've ever heard, as far as I'm concerned... and then we have Cast No Shadow and Don't Look Back in Anger. I don't care if I come off like a teenybopper; that's some beautiful stuff.

Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are both brilliant. The Masterplan is a fine b-sides collection, too. It's too bad that they immediately went into the dumper after that and have never fully recovered.
