Well, it's confirmed, the Police are rehearsing in Vancouver for a probable performance at the Grammies and a likely 30th Anniversary tour. I've got a friend in V. who emailed me about this late last week. The band are actually rehearsing just a few blocks from her house, I believe. She was joking about stalking Stewart Copeland (had a huge crush on him back when we were in h.s.), so I told her to get me an Andy Summers autograph. She said she'd just give Sting a look of icey disdain. ;D It amazes me how der Stinglemeister has just squandered the incredible amount of goodwill that he had with my generation. In the early nineties he still had a lot of credibility, but from Mercury Falling on he's just pissed it away in Phil Collinsesque MOR crap. Didn't I predict that Bruce would release an E Street album this year -- around mid to late summer -- and that I would promptly name it my album of the year?

The new Arcade Fire kind of sounds like the old Arcade Fire to me.....

Personally holding off until the release for the Arcade Fire.
Pitchfork is reporting that the Avalanches are finally at work on a new album.

I'm gonna have to get that live Zevon. I've heard a couple of boots from his early live work which show an excellent live band, and Stand in the Fire has a rep as being a fine album.

Three months in, here's my
Best of 2007 So Far
10. !!!- Myth Takes 9. Deerhunter- Cryptograms 8. Papercuts- Can't Go Back 7. Apostle of Hustle- Folkloric Feel 6. Calla- Strength in Numbers 5. Dinosaur Jr.- Beyond 4. Kings of Leon- Because of the Times 3. Arcade Fire- Neon Bible 2. Ted Leo & The Pharmacists- Living with the Living 1. Of Montreal- Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
I can see some changes within that list if the Modest Mouse keeps growing on me. I expect Ween, Radiohead, and Stars to not disappoint, either.
So far, 2007 beats 2006's ass.

Don't think so, but it leaked a while back. They're going for a "bigger" sound, but I still really like it.
