Was Nelson those two twin long haired, blond chicks? Cause they were 90s, not 80s.
btw, you omitted Bon fuckin' Jovi. They saw a million faces, and they rocked them all!

I understand votes for a lot of these choices, but U2 is my choice.

I can't decide between U2 and R.E.M. Just like in the eighties.

If we were talking favorites I'd go with New Order (of course...) but if we're being realistic I spose I'll have to cast my vote for The Cure. As sick of them as I am by now. They ruled my 80's anyway. There wasn't a day went by from the time I was 5 to the time I was 8 I didn't hear them. ('87 to '90 were my conscious 80's years.)

I don't know how to answer this poll because I'm not sure how to interpret it! Am I just supposed to vote for my favorite 80s artist, or for the artist who can most be said to have captured the zeitgeist of the 80s? Or something in between?
Well, I'm going for something in between. Much as I love X, then, I won't vote for 'em cause they're too idiosyncratic and don't really "represent" the 80s. On the other hand, I also won't vote for U2, cause even though they definitely did surf the 80s zeitgeist (if not help to create it) I've just been feeling pretty sick of U2 lately (though I'll stand by War as a great album any time).
Hmmmmm. Ya know, I think I gotta go with the Cure too. It just makes sense. Go samps.
Cheers, M

Despite not voting for them, I really hope Nelson wins.
