8/4 apparently. I'll read your 2006 thread here in a little bit when I get the chance.

I'm going to be doing best songs of the year, soon. The answer, obviously, is Lovestoned/I Think She Knows, by Justin Timberlake.

I still think Talib Kweli is the best up there. I could roll with this. Though I think my personal favorite that's listed is probably Guru. I've had 'Mass Appeal' as my ringtone for a couple of months now. It ages me.

I was just about to write something about being much more interested in a songs list than an album list. Weird. I love "I think She Knows". Don't care much for the first half (or much of the rest of the album for that matter). I should keep this to the other thread.

I voted for Chuck D, since Run-DMC were some how left off the options.

I really do like that one song a lot, but I don't care for the album. I still think SexyBack is a fine dance track. But yeah, we can keep this in the other board.

Jay-Z, though Guru and Mos Def are nice options too. Don't sweat it DED - pretty much impossible to cover all the bases with only 35 options.
on Pac vs. Biggie, I read a good comparison once: Pac was great because of WHAT he was saying, while Biggie was great because of HOW he was saying it. I think that's a nice summary.
and speed has little to do with an MCs skill. It's a nice party trick, but if no one can hear what you're saying, there's no point in saying anything. Besides, Twista is way faster than Busta, and everyone knows that Twista sucks. even Twista.

Pac just always seemed to me to be one of the default answers...I know a lot of respectable hip hop fans who'd say him, so I know it's me but I've just not heard that separates him from the pack...granted the pack is that of great rappers but nothing that elevates him to the top of that list.
Twista does suck, but he can rap fast.

I think Black Thought's rapping on Game Theory is fantastic.

Black Thought is extremely underrated, I think. I can't believe he still has anything left to say after so many albums, but Game Theory might have been his best work. amazing.

Not one vote for Eminem yet. Shameful.

There are exactly two Eminem tracks I'd say are better then average.

This is about Best MC, not Best Tracks By An MC.

Next I'll probably do a best hip hop album poll.
