Who Sell Out has some psychedelia on it, but it's so much more. Piper is a one trick pony that assumes all listeners are on the exact same acid trip.

Pew, have you heard Syd's solo albums? and which track from Piper is best?

Although I have a certain fondness for Wish You Were Here (the song more than the album, really), I had to do the punk thing and vote for "all Pink Floyd sucks" b/c really, I don't ever need to hear any of it again. Ever.

Ditto. I'm sick of 'em. Just hearing the words "Pink Floyd" is painful. Maybe strat can tamper with those too so whenever someone writes them, "Stinky Royd" appears instead. Oh, and Piper is indeed, garbage. I own the fucker, I should know.

Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is garbage. As strictly "trollbait", this is a classic line, & deserves a winky chortle. But if it's an honest opinion -- imo it is seriously out of touch, all the more surprising coming from ded, who I consider very much IN touch w/popular music history. Thorn, serious question. Do you consider Barrett's solo stuff better than anything Pink Floyd did post-Barrett?

Actually Paul, I don't. I am of the opinion that Pink Floyd improved dramatically when Gilmour replaced Barrett - and I know that is a kind of sacrilege to hardcore Barrett fans, and I consider myself one!
They seem like 2 entirely different bands, to me. And I much prefer the symphonic experimentation (of Atom Heart Mother), the acoustic spacey bliss (of Meddle), the mellifluous mood music (of Obscured By Clouds), the sonic genius (of DSOTM), the savage intensity (of Animals), the tripped out post-jazz fusion blues (of WYWH), and the bombastic heavy lyricism (of The Wall) and even the thoughtful, gorgeous postwar meditations (of The Final Cut) over the quirky, eclectic, psychedelic, and artful yet childlike folksiness of the Syd Barrett years.
I could almost say "there's no comparison", and leave it at that, i.e, "apples & oranges", one cannot fairly be compared to the other. But I have to be honest and admit that I prefer the "evolved" Pink Floyd over the strikingly original first incarnation.
addendum:
I consider Barrett's solo stuff (Madcap Laughs, Barrett, Opel) better than "The Division Bell", I'll tell you that much. It's innocence outshines Gilmour's pompous overproduction.

DSOTM gets my vote and my vote alone??? I should rename this "The Sacrilege Against Dark Side Of the Moon" poll.

You should've voted for Meddle, that way, "All Pink Floyd Sux" wouldn't be in the lead... even if it is the truth.

although done solo by roger waters, amused to death is my fav. as for this poll, i guess i'd say the final cut. Have you heard "Leaving Beruit" Sisyphus?? (I always had a spot for The Final Cut....rather listen to it than the more longwinded Wall to be sure!)

They are essentials in my rotation like certain Dylan and Neil Young. Whereas the only time I listen to Pink Floyd (besides Pipers and a few of their other Barrett-era stuff) is when it comes on a radio station.

Man I can't believe it, but after looking over the choices I felt like I had to go with Dark Side Of The Moon.....I was just SO close to opting for Meddle as out of a personal choice I'd more perfer to listen to it, BUT I think DSOM is a more realized accomplishment and based on that reason.....
Obscured By Clouds is a personal favorite that also gets tripped up on the poll calling for "The Best..." ---and if you're including that album as a choice, what about More??? "The Nile Song" just plain kicks ass while "Cymbaline" always had this sense of fatality that resonated with me.
