I got the idea for this thread after seeing someone post a Sufjans Stevens album in the recent listens thread. The idea is for us to come up with what the best bands are for each US state (plus the District of Columbia).
I've always thought it was neat how American music is so decentralized in comparison to what we have here in Japan. Though I'm not really in a position to complain about Japan's musical centralization, since I quite obviously benefit from it...
Anyway, I'm not nearly familiar enough with the US scene, so I'm hoping that the American posters could lend their expertise to this.
