You wish you rocked that hard. Actually, yeah. As ambivalent as I am about the Stones all in all, I love Keef. He's a rock and roll icon, a human riff machine, and an absolutely essential part of rock and roll mythology. If there wasn't a Keith Richards, we'd have to make him up, b/c he is the absolutely perfect reedy-voiced, guitar playing foil to the charismatic frontman. The Mick and Keef dynamic is one of the truly great rock and roll pairings. I can talk shit about certain parts of the Stones career, and I can bitch about Jagger's refusal to write lyrics that are up to his potential after Altamont, but Keef's awesome. |
