Hahaha thanks Weeps.
Seriously, that movie is awesome. I've seen it numerous times and it still blows me away, even if it's not quite as good as the movies that influenced it. I really need to see those classics in the film noir canon (Chinatown et al).

I thought L.A. Confidential was stellar.

Oh, I agree. It's just that it's a newer film, so it's not (yet) as legendary as something like Chinatown (Blaney has an obsession with film noir and I think she referred to L.A. Confidential as a "neo-noir").

I'm with you. And of course I don't think it quite matches the visceral filmstyle of USUAL SUSPECTS, either, but it does give that classic a run for its money. I need to rent it again sometime. . . it's been awhile.

I prefer LA Confidential to Chinatown (both excellent), even if the thematic angles of the Polanski film are deeper.

That's quite a statement - - and it makes me want to re-visit LA CONFIDENTIAL all the more.

Couldn't find a pic of it but I picked up the Dune Collcetor's Edition triple-disc in a tin box.... Hope the quality is better than the print they had of that film earlier down under.

Cool! The USA Dune DVD box set is still in production (Lynch is supervising a longer cut) so we yanks will have to wait longer. What's on the Collector's Edition, Maarts?

Disc 1 has the original 131 minute film in DTS, anamorphic widescreen, Disc 2 has the extended 177 minute version on it but only in Dolby Stereo Disc 3 has several features, Impressions Of Dune with new interviews, Destination Dune, a promofilm shot at the set of the film and used to promote/sell the film and a very short interview with Frank Herbert, plus a trailer and cast/crew biographies. Plus an interesting booklet written by Paul Sammon about the production of the film.

Is the 177 minute version directed by "Alan Smithee"? Bought this one for $5 this morning. I used to own the director's cut until I sold it to get some quick cash. But this is a better bargain with both theatrical and director's cuts. It may be the least of the Evil Dead films but its still a great time. Man, I've wanted this so bad. I can't imagine calling myself a Sergio Leone fan without having seen his last epic. I wasn't able to find a copy for a year until yesterday when I saw one for $14. Can't wait to immerse myself in this...
