I'm into a lot of things but I tend to let my mom slut around on her own. Incest is just one of things that just doesn't do it for me. Is that because you have an issue with it on a moral basis, or is it just that your mamma's ugly?

For those of you still interested as to whether Television is a punk band or a new wave Rock band, here is a discussion on it that is pretty revealing: www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=41&threadid=56922#unreadIt seems that Sire records exec--a guy named Stein who you may have heard of--is credited for coining the term "New Wave Rock" basing it on the French New Wave cinema of the 60s...

Shout out for Operation Ivy!
Then there's Agent Orange... but they never considered themselves part of the South Cali punk scene, despite being adopted by it (note the interview at the end of the Living In Darkness re-issue).

PEW, you are aware though that is a record executive who wanted to sell records? Based on the bad connotation that punk had sired through the acts of the Sex Pistols, the record execs came up with "new wave" to sell records because of punk's growing bad image. I don't care how many times that guy wants to spin under the umbrella of Godard, that's just total bullshit. Especially if it's coming from a record executive, I'm going to consider the source.

Not all record execs are evil or ignorant of music of course, but I agree with you. The thing is though that Rock journalists of the late 70s also picked up on this term "New Wave Rock" and argued that it was a much better term to describe many of the bands like Talking Heads, Television, Devo, Blondie, Pere Ubu, The Cars, etc. Now I'm not saying that Rock Journalists always know best, but they generally more informed and experienced than the mainstream public when it comes to music. But what matters to me is that their are reasons to differentiate between punk rock of the late 70s and New Wave Rock of the late 70s. In fact there are many reasons: differences in attitude, different influences, sonic differences, lyrical differences and the list goes on...

Also I find it interesting that New Wave Rock lead to "New Wave" of the 80s which eventually became the synth pop dance shit that I hated so much. Punk on the ohterhand morphed into Hardcore and then Undergroud Rock (sometimes called College Radio Rock or proto-alternative Rock) of the 80s.

PEW's obsessed with labeling music. I've never seen anything like it before. And he's a real cunt about it too.

PEW's obsessed with labeling music. I've never seen anything like it before. And he's a real cunt about it too. Kool, labeling things and catagorizing them is one technique mankind uses to better understand the universe around him. We do it every second of every day. This thing in front of you, that you are reading, has been catagorized by mankind as a computer. Everything you touch and everything you see must be catagorized to be understood. Without these skills we would all be running nilly-willy throughout time and space with no idea about how anything works or what to do about it...

Oh, fuck you and your fucking official blog again. The only 'Punk Rock' vs 'New Wave Rock' debate that exists is in that tiny brain of yours. Dumb bitch.

Everything you touch and everything you see must be catagorized to be understood. OK then shit for brains, could you please let me in on how you either "touch" or "see" music? I'd love to hear this one... And since when do you have to label music to "understand" it? Music, like all forms of art is just a form of expression. You either like what he [the artist] has to say or you don't, it either connects with you or it doesn't, there's no need to label it anything.

Well it goes with out saying that everything you HEAR needs to be catagorized and labeled as well if you want to successfully navigate reality. Otherwise you'd be walking around life totally uninformed and ignorant. You wouldnt be able to distinguish the barking of a dog from an ambulance siren from a pop song. You see Kool, knowledge is power. The more knowledge you have, the more power you have to not only successfully experience life, but to also experience it to the fullest...
