What the hell happened to Layla? I didn't talk to her too much, but she came on the Ray Davies board to hang w/ me and Dolly on occasion. WTF? Did she get pissed at someone?

Yeah, Ricky Gervais (I think that's how you spell his name) is a total comedic genius. He's the guy with the beard that's the manager and is totally hilarious on that show. He has another show "Extras" that is shown on HBO and that show is also pretty brilliant. I'm with you on the television thing. I don't have it at all. I just rent DVDs or VHS tapes when I feel like watching something. Mostly due to the fact that TV is just so distracting for me. yeah. i decided 10 years ago or so that i didn't want it around. not because i'm on some judgemental crusade against television watchers, but because if i had it around i might be sucked in. same reason i try to stay away from video games. it's all too distracting, and i'd rather feel like i'm using my spare time to work on my own stuff and hang out with friends and have good convo. speaking of which, i've been fucking around on this message board too long. (at least it's interaction with real people...not as one-sided as tv or videogames...although it's quite a distraction...) anyway, i better get on. i've got stuff to do.

at work i occassionally catch the daily show or colbert report, if i'm doing a grave shift. i don't loathe it entirely. but i loathe a lot of its aspects. and i love the word "loathe." it's so thick and passionate.

i loathe tv. i don't watch any of it, other than the news. I cant even watch the News anymore--its become such corporate-sponsored bullshit, it just pisses me off! I've even lost interest in colbert and daily show... Seriously the only TV I watch is Teletubbies cuz it helps calm my 15 month old down before naptime... Oh yeah, I do get off on watching the Sunday Political programs though; I watch the last half hour of Fox then the last half hour of George Snuffalopolis (unless it has that twit Cokie Roberts and that ass Sam Donaldson on it--then I just go take a dump or something) And of course the McLaughlin Group if I'm around on Saturday Night(and with a 15 month old, I usually am)--that always cracks me up. I had no problem with video games, but I really dont play that often. I think when my kid gets old enough to play, I'll get into them too... I do waste a lot of time on the internet, but I also get a lot of information here. Ooops, Teletubbies just came on as I was typing this...that Tinky Winky, seems to be carrying a bit of sugar in his pockets, no? Eh-oh!

hahaa. the idea of these teletubbies sounds so psychadelic to me for some reason. i only saw about five minutes of it once, but it seemed pretty spaced out, like something to watch high and do adlib to...

I try to let anybody say whatever they want, but that is seen as weakness by some, so that's going to change. careful, you better not let anyone see you being weak... lol, good one sis

hahaa. the idea of these teletubbies sounds so psychadelic to me for some reason. i only saw about five minutes of it once, but it seemed pretty spaced out, like something to watch high and do adlib to... Yeah, its pretty visual--the show was designed by some child development whatchamocallitgist. There is alot of repetition, but everytime I turn it on, my son just starts kicking his feet in delight and points to the screen. I've watched this show waaaaaay too closely and there are some little nuances about it that are fairly brilliant. The choreography for one is hilarious. These teletubbies are all doing the same dance, but each slightly out of synch. I cant even imagine watching it stoned. There is also this baby face inside a glowing sun that opens and closes the show and sorta landmarks the transition of one segment of the show to the next. There is also this psychedelic pinwheel that shows up before certain segments that my kid just loves. It's really strange because my son basically just stares at other tv programs (cartoons, sesame street, animal channel, etc) but he actually reacts to this show. And I've heard other parents tell me this about their kids as well.

The Teletubbies, I think, are brilliant. The smiling babyface on the sun is a touch of genius. The makers of this show just had to be on major psychedelics. I wish I could see it again. I totally get how kids would be drawn to it like moths to a flame. Only without being consumed to ash.

But I gotta admit, strat-o's advice of ignoring this guy might just be the best advice we could get concerning PEW. Sometimes I've seen that he's started a new thread and I think to myself,"Nobody's gonna post there," and then people stop by to make fun of the thread. Then PEW behaves as he normally does and people get more and more pissed off. It's HIS thread, right? He started it. Why even go there in the first place? Look, I've done the same thing. The best advice I could give, compounding on strat-o's advice, is this: when you see PEW start a new thread, leave it be. Pretty simple, eh?

Am I really pissing anyone off that much? Yes. Well like I said before I really dont see how someone on a message board can really piss anyone else off. But if there are people here who get pissed off by a few comments I might make, then is that my problem or does it say more about them and their problems? Its like you say, if they dont like what I say, then they can avoid my posts. But the thing that I really find hard to believe is that the people on this board can have their emotions so easily affected by someone on a message board who is simply posting his ideas about music. I know many of us are passionate about music, but really what does one guy's opinion matter? If folks dont agree with me or think I'm an asshole, then why get worked up over it? Just shrug at it, or avoid it, or just laugh it off. Or even try to have a discussion about it. But why get worked up over it? WHy let it affect you? Shouldnt your own conscious free-will and self-discipline have more affect on your emotions that some joker on a message board has???
