If you can't hear the differences between "Pink Cadillac" and "Her Strut" it's no wonder you're championing Seger over Springsteen. You've obviously listened to TOO much music and it's all beginning to sound the same to you. Musically, lyrically---there's very little similarity. Musically they are very similar, they are both driven by similar Roots Rock bass lines (Springsteen's bassline being basically a Dick Dale rip-off). They both have very similar tempos and and instrumentation... And lyrically they are both about the temptation of seductive women. Now, I'll give you that each of these tunes have a somewhat different vibe, but Segers is the more authtentic--down with the working man, whereas Springsteen's song is catering once again to the clue-less Hipster wannabees whose idea of "cool" is the cornball James Dean pouty-lipped, collar up posuer flicks...ridiculous! Its also worth noting that these arent the only two songs that are very similar between these two Trad Rockers. Lyrically Springsteen revisits much of the same ground that Seger had already established. So many of Springsteens tunes owe a debt to 'Ramblin Gamblin man' that its not even funny. "Born to Run" for starters. "Hungry Heart" is another. Then there is also the lyrical similarities between "Weve got Tonight" and Sprinsteens "Prove it all night". Not to mention Springsteen borrowing heavily from "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" and "Old Time Rock and Roll" in his sqeamishly corny tune "Glory Days". I mean the list goes on and on. See, the thing is that Seger was among the first Trad Rockers--a rather limited genre that simply encourages alot of going over the same territory. ...bw, when talking about Bob Seger look at how diverse the artists who covered him are: Waylon Jennings, Think Lizzy and Golden Earring, Kid Rock, Mettallica and Kenny Rogers. If that doesnt run the gamut, then I'm a monkeys uncle... And one more thing, did someone on this thread actually compare Clarance Clemons to this man: www.altoreed.com/home.html

Also, again, you have never explained your preoccupation with this "authenticity" bullshit. Skvor, do I REALLY have to explain to you why authenticity is important AGAIN?!? Becasue if I do, I will. But only if you listen to the argument, and seperate what is being said from who is saying it. Imagine that the argument being made is by someone you know nothing about and regard it on face value. Becasue the argument for authenticity in music deserves your unbiased attention.

You know when you step away from it and really watch pew work he's really quite remarkable. The way he holds back just enough to not be too obvious while still being very specific about what buttons he's pushing. The way he deletes and reposts things that weren't responded too is pretty pathetic but he's got to get his bait in there...wait a few and recast. He's far more skilled in his trolling then back in the Bozo days, hamfisted amateur hour is what that was. Of course strat will have to ban him eventually but until then I suggest you observe him like zoo animal, it really is pretty fascinating.

Don't worry about it, PEW. It's really just a non-issue. You and your rockjism ilk do nothing but take the fun out of music and turn into some self-masturbation-academic-sterile wankfest that I could care less.
You have never explained the authenticity thing, but you are good at going back and re-editing your posts after the fact to make appear as though you did, puffing out your chest as some sort of helpless victim in this long, convuluted un-neccesary process. Of course even when you try to explain it, it still falls short of the intended point because you're just a witless poser hiding behind a computer screen and poorly written blog.
My middle finger to your very being is all the authenticity you will never need. I authentically find you to be a gutless troll and a switch and bait assclown.
Good day.

Tell me, how exactly has anything that has been said on this thread "taken the fun out of music" for you? Cant' answer? That is because talking about music does NOT take the fun out of music. If anything it adds to the listening experience.

Good idea ded. Let's turn this into the Springsteen appreciation thread, just like we did with the "Rolling Stones suck" thread. In fact, any thread from now on PEW starts, automatically becomes an 'appreciation' thread for the artist he's dissing. This is gonna be hard for me though, seeing I'm not the biggest Springsteen fan but I'll try. Only because I can't stand that old Seger fart-ass.
