Nah, I agree with ded in a sense and I don' think he's killing the board. I do find it quite irritating that so many people hate Sting and The Police so much. The guy is a gifted songwriter in my opinion and has a voice that I don't think anyone can touch. The guy can sing much better than Strummer for sure, but just for me, I like the Clash alot more. I do think both bands brought alot of positive attention to dub music unlike those fuckers in Sublime or 311.

I don't doubt that the six people that voted for the Clash actually like them better...hell, I probably like them better 75% of the time, just lately I've been in the mood to listen to the Police more. It's been mentioned before but I just get this sense of duty sometimes when The Clash or Velvet Underground are involved in these types of discussions. Like if you let your guard for a minute and admit that at anytime you might like like the Police more then the Clash you'll lose your discount card.

skvor, actually I've never loathed Sting, though I did find some of his post=police lounge music to be a bit sleep-inducing..but I tell you skvor, with the debut and espeically the 2nd LP I thought they could do no wrong..I saw the Police as the headline act at this huge festival circa 1982 and his voice was amazing.....and the sound they got in front of 200,000 for a three person band was astounding ..in fact just went to the US festivalwebsite and this is who I saw in 1982: Gang of Four, The Ramones, The English Beat, Oingo Boingo, The B-52's, Talking Heads, The Police [Rankin' Roger from the English Beat joined the Police at the end of their set]. and then for 1983: Monday May 30th: Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul [9:15 - 9:50 am] Berlin [10:15 -10:50 am] Quarterflash [11:15 - 11:50 am] U2 [12:20 - 1:10 pm] Missing Persons [1:40 - 2:40] Pretenders [3:10 - 4:10] Joe Walsh [4:40 - 5:50], Stevie Nicks [6:20 - 7:30] David Bowie [8:00 - 10:00 pm] Nah, I agree with ded in a sense and I don' think he's killing the board. I think those first two Police albums are quite good, but no way I'd put them higher than the Clash's first three albums. Now as for the VU, yeah, they get a little too much love around here. There okay, but that's about as much love for them as I got. They're a fine rock band, but I don't see, err hear what all the fuss is about. I reckon they're just not my bag. I own 4 of their albums, and listen to them every once in a while too...each time hoping I catch something I missed in the previous listen, but it never really happens. I do really like that Self-ttled album though, and disc two on the Fully Loaded edition is better than disc one IMO.
