Well, you DO have a history of deleting and modifying your posts. Surely the others weren't all accidents? What in tarnations are you talking 'bout? What 'others'? You know what--forget about it. This is a music board--I'll talk to you about music. If you want to get me involved in some other topic, then invite me to some other board and I'll gladly participate...

I gues you've conveniently forgotten how you lied when you first came back here, saying "I'm a newbie here" and then deleted it when folks called you on it. You might have forgotten it, but I didn't. I'm all fine when it comes to talking about the music, but the least you could do is be honest with yourself and everyone here. You very recently deleted a comment you made to rockkid on the "Hello Misplaced RS.com Posters" board and then tried to say you didn't delete it or that it must have been an accident. So who the fuck are you trying to kid?

Yet another example of why that guy needs to be just punted out of here.

Aw, why'd you delete your post, PEW? Did I? It must have been an accident--what did it say, do you remember? Are you sure that I deleted it? On this particular board, it could only have been you, Bozo. Do I have to reinstate the troll-O-meter on your ID box?

it's funny..when I first spotted the subject line of this thread, since there is quite a bit of Doors-bashing on these boards (and as you all know, I have much reverence for the Lizard king et al!!) I thought you were deciding to re-evaluate (i.,e "pardon")the general loathing for the Doors!!.......

Well I got into the Doors when I was in my teens and they are one of those bands that I will revisit every few years who just seem to get better the older I get. Total originators. And to think that their debut was 40 years ago. It still sounds great!

Sound familiar?

Sound familiar? The Doors sound was unique, they made often times beautiful music. The lyrics may have not been great but Morrison's delivery stands as one of the strongest in Rock history. The Doors will always have their devoted following and the mainstreamers (ie the Bruce Springsteen/Eagles/Tom Petty, etc) crowd will always feel threatened by that. Jim was truly a free spirit and lived the life of a poet/artist which is such a contrast to the lifestyle of the corporate/commercial artists like Springsteen and company that most mainstream people just cant relate. ANd that is part of the brilliance of Morrison, he communicates to the true artists and poets, the free spirits, the independent thinkers and the creative originators. That's why mainstream, corporate consumer culture clones will never ever get him and will always be threatened by him: he represents everything that they will never attain...

Well aren't we a smart little troll today? Baiting the Springsteen/Petty fans again, only a day after they were discussing how much they admire them. Coincidence? I think not. You're so fucking predictable, it's boring.

Used to love them, but over the years I've moved on. But some of the above statement I agree with, and probably Bow and thoRns would too. When I go back and listen to the Doors, especially the 'Soft Parade' and 'Strange Days' albums the Doors really did have a unique sound IMHO. They just didn't really seem to fit in w/ their peers and were kinda outcast in a way. They spoke to an angrier, more frustrated youth movement. Really, most bands seemed pretty happy back then, then maybe in the later 60's more somber/reflective, but the Doors seemed like one of the few bands with an ATTITUDE problem. I don't know my point behind this, I'm just writing and ramblin', but I dig the Doors, and always will. I don't think the following lyrics are bad by any means, and I can certainly see how an angry, disconnected young man or woman can relate.... "Five to one, baby One in five No one here gets out alive, now You get yours, baby Ill get mine Gonna make it, baby If we try The old get old And the young get stronger May take a week And it may take longer They got the guns But we got the numbers Gonna win, yeah Were takin over Come on! Yeah! Your ballroom days are over, baby Night is drawing near Shadows of the evening crawl across the years Ya walk across the floor with a flower in your hand Trying to tell me no one understands Trade in your hours for a handful dimes Gonna make it, baby, in our prime Come together one more time Get together one more time Get together one more time Get together, aha Get together one more time! Get together one more time! Get together one more time Get together one more time Get together, gotta, get together"

I'll pardon him. He thought he was making good music, which I guess was almost as incidental as farting or burping... ;-)

Just never got the whole doors thing, I'm sorry - always thought they were a little overrated.
