Apparantly you haven't heard Band Of Gypsys. Indeed I have and it's got nothing on Sign O' The Times.

Gypsys, while awesome isn't my favorite live Jimi album...As noted before, Jimi is best when he's backed by Billy Cox (Gypsy's) and Mitch Mitchell (Experience) IMHO.

Hendrix was really nothing more this era's version of Lenny Kravitz. The fact that he died young only added to the myth. ignore the PEW-bait ^^^please, that was a joke... although there's a lot of truth to the second part.

I couldn't disagree with that statement any more! Kravitz sucks and has no originality at all, Hendrix on the other hand...

I once made the mistake of trying to point that out in a Hendrix vs. Clapton debate. I didn't go well. It was hard to get across that's some what unfair to compare 3 years to 30 years.

The Kravitz remark was a joke. I said so in the post... if you look closely. I was just PEW-baiting. Despite his talent as musician and a multi-instumentalist, Kravitz is one of the most boring, unimaginative songwriters I've ever heard [apart from a good chunk of his Mama Said album which is actually quite good]. Kravitz has stolen from Hendrix many times. Just listen to "Tunnel Vision" from the Circus album. You'd swear you're listening to an updated version of "Crosstown Traffic". There's no denying Hendrix's influence on Prince's music, the big difference being he took those influences [and those of many other artists as already noted here] and re-invented them into something new and distinctly his.

At the end of the day, Prince only sounds like Prince.

Nice. Prince will take this eventually. It's only a matter of everyone voting... and common sense.

OK, this I can absolutely agree with. Looks like I got PEW'd
