Prince. I'd much rather listen to him right now than anything by Hendrix.

Yeah, I just put Prince over the top. Hendrix is pretty fuckin' boring, another "mandatory greatest vote ever" dead old fogey.

What the hell is the matter with you folks! Hendrix boring???
I don't think it's mandatory to vote for him...I really think he's fuckin' brilliant.

He's so fucking chill and groovy. I reckon it's just me then, but Hendrix just sets me free and puts me in a damn good place.
I rarely listen to any hits by him - if I don't ever hear "Purple Haze" again, fine, but the shit on 'South Saturn Delta', 'First Rays Of the New Rising Sun' and the various live recordings are simply phenomenal. What's a shame is he died way too young, easily the biggest loss out of the big three (Jimi, Janis, Jim). Right before his death, he was touring w/ Billy Cox, and Mitch Mitchell, and recording with them as well. He was adding brass sections, and really jazzing up his music. He had so much more to give, and the direction he was heading in was fascinating. But, then he died, and we'll never really know just what Mr. Hendrix could've accomplished.

There's nothing wrong with Hendrix, I've just been bombarded with his music since I was a kid, and I really have no desire to hear any more. I think someone around here called him a "gateway artist," one that gets you started on a career of music appreciation until you can search out other better stuff on your own. I was into Jimi in high school, but since then I've moved on.

Fair enough.
I was like that w/ the Doors. But, I don't know if Hendrix is a gateway artist...I kinda agree, as getting into him has opened me up to other things, but I also feel Hendrix is better than most, if not all the other bands I listen too. I really do listen to more music than just the Beatles, Clash, Hendrix, Pearl Jam, Kinks - However, I just don't like any of the other bands as much, and for some reason I just don't really get tired of those old fogies.

Hendrix is one of my once or twice a year artists, I don't listen to Prince very regularly anymore either but more often then Hendrix.

Yeah, I was pretty much being a dick there, I wouldn't mind Hendrix if he weren't one of those Doors/Pink Floyd dorm room staple types. I hate that shit. Maybe one day when college is about twenty years behind me, I'll be able to listen to that music from another perspective, but it's impossible now.

I've definately listened to more Hendrix than Prince. Prince has never appealed to me much. But I think that it's pretty hard to argue with his talent. Not that Hendrix was untalented, but Prince's talents are a little more varied (okay, a lot more). I think as of right now I vote Prince.

Wise choice Rocky. And for the right reason I might add. I'm really surprised how this has turned out. Finally, a poll result I actually agree with. That's the thing with Prince. I've heard that from several non-fans too, that even though they're not crazy about his music they can't deny his God-given talent. The dude's a natural.
