There are a few more francophone albums which I fancied this year but I don't think that, apart from you, anybody here cares for the genre ... Other nice entries for 2007 ... Levon Helm - Dirt Farmer ... Okkervil River - Stage Names ... Mary Gauthier - Between Daylight and Dark ... Coral Egan - Magnify ... ... ... ... ... Lyle Lovett ... ... ... Lavender Diamond - Imagine Our Love

hm... not that this would be your thing a-tall, phil (or maarts), but my roommate is desperately obsessed with a french band called Yelle (i think?) and can't find ANYWHERE to buy their album. any tips? i would like to not have to hear the same two songs everyday.. i think they are pretty new, but it's odd that there is nowhere online to buy the album. maybe i could send someone some money and they could pick up a copy for me?

well, I got my list of Top 10 Of 2007 done. Plus, I added 10 "Honorable Mentions", so I guess it's a Top 20, of sorts.
only thing, my notepad w/the info on it, got deleted w/out being saved. It took me a half hour to compile that list. I'm pissed

Yelle- yeah, I heard that album. It's quite nice!
I liked the Low-album too- I probably should make a top 25 because I'm really starting to get into the new Radiohead-album which I didn't list. Completely forgot about Caribou too- love that album.
Phil- ever since the release of three compilations called So Frenchy So Chic down under, 'la musique francophone' has really been on the rise here in Australia. One of my best sellers was Camille- Le Fil and also a cheapie compilation of Edith Piaf flew off the shelves because of the La Vie En Rose-movie. Bands like Nouvelle Vague who give this nondescriipt 'French' atmospheric lounge versions of pop songs are now 'de rigeur', just like smoking Gauloises back in the 60s. So France is hip now here. Let's see if i can flog them some Bottine Souriante too.

That's a nice list! Changing it up a bit, which is what the King Thorn is good at.
