Ok, I did a quick scan through these boards, wondering if anyone ever started a RUSH board, and it doesn't look like it. *wtf, Riley?* ;b So here and now, just one day after they dropped their 18TH STUDIO ALBUM, I think it's high time these 3 GODS ON EARTH get due props, know'm say'n~? So to start things off, I'd really like to hear from the real RUSH fans, just how it was they got into this most brilliant of all fore-fathers of prog & post-Zeppelin rock fusion. To say "Snakes & Arrows is clearly a return to form" is thoughtful and all, but not thoughtful enough. It is so much more than that: it is that rarest of rock'n'roll endeavors: a true, blue, bona-fide expansion and extension of one of rocks most exalted avatars. Most bands crash & burn, or at least begin fading into "meh"-territory, before they release ten fucking albums. Hell, most bands don't even GET to release ten fucking albums. Geddy, Alex, and Neil deserve recognition as the Three Kings of Rock, imgdho. ( in my god damned honest opinion) That they can remain as relevant today, in 2007, 33 years after their debut, is a Gift handed down to us true fans from up on high, as far as I'm concerned. enuff w/the rush kudos (for now). Y'all be sure to chime in w/your own RUSH stories. Let's give back to our 3 heroes, who have given us so much over the years.

Ok, this new album is growin by leaps & bounds ~ ! For example, I didn't much care for track 2 at first (Armor & Sword), but I'll be damned if that song isn't fantastic. It seemed too slow at first, even Geddy's vocals were kinda drawly (as if the player were on a lower speed), but now, when I hear this song start up, I get all excited. It's a beautiful piece of work, the entire album actually.
I'm not going to say it yet, but mark my words a few days down the line...

I'm sure Geddy gets lots of grabs (giving and receiving) but his palm is facing the camera.
I've only 5 Rush albums including the new album. I love all of them.

(I happen to agree with these, check out the response Snakes & Arrows has been generating):
Textured, diverse and exciting
Old Rush meets New Rush = something new!
Awesome, innovative, inspiring -- Typical RUSH!
After all these years...still blown away
Best release in a long time
Rush Slings Sophisticated, Streamlined 'Arrows'
Give It A Chance Before Reviewing..AMAZING WORK!
Witness the evolution of Rush to their greatest album yet
Best They've Done In Years
... and my personal favorite,
killer album. one of the best rock albums ever recorded*****
That last one just about says it all.
I can't stop listening to it... it is as good as all those headlines above suggest. I would go so far as to say SNAKES & ARROWS is an exemplification of HOW ITS DONE.

love what this guy has to say (author of the "killer album. one of the best rock albums ever recorded*****" headline):
"this is gonna stand as tall as whos next and the 1st few zep albums. i kid you not, thats how good it is. a classic, best of the year, probably best straight ahead rock album of the decade so far. weird cause that would make it the greatest rock album of the millenium and that might start to sound like i'm overstating my case..but still...i'm not. this smokes 90% of my collection."
Yup.
