No, this is not a joke. I know this is gonna be a blowout, landslide, asswhoopin...whatever you wanna call it. I really, really dig The Who, but Zeppelin, to me, is at least 50 times better. I may be the only one to pick them. I just wanted to find out if I was.

No, you're not the only one to pick them, but we may be the only 2. I wonder if Holzman is gonna bother with another Zep-bashing post again or just cut/paste one of his posts from the other board.

I voted for the WHO. I love my Led Zeppelin but Townshend's solo records don't suck as bad as Plant as Page. Plus, I want to know what they have in common for a VS. thing.....sake of argument?
Led Zeppelin--Kicked ass, plant was concerned with his hair and shit --crotch bulge. <usic was fantastc. Had their own plane. Every single one of their albums is essential (yes, even CODA!)
WHO-started off before Zeppelin did. Keith Moon coined their name. Tons of greats singles and albums. Townshends lyrics were more personal. WHO'S NEXT kicks Led Zeppelin IVs ass, though.
I love both equally but just for the sake of this board the WHO wins. The Who didnt have the same manager Led Zeppelin did.

Who, because Led Zeppelin didn't make Who's Next.

This is so "apples V. oranges" --- but I went with Zeppelin just to bring the score back to even. Have to lean that way anyway as Zeppelin's offerings were more overtly blues based (ok, 'stolen' as we all know...but fuck, almost all music is rooted from blues) and went a heavier route while The Who often lightened things up with pop leanings. So damn, does that brings us back to a "Mods V. Rocker" thing again??

Who? Of course.
This isn't even close ... though it might get me to do some serious Who-blathering some time this week. Who's Next is on my very short list of legitimate contenders for best album ever, and The Who Sell Out, The Who By Numbers, Tommy, and The Who Sing My Generation are all nearly as good. Plus, Live at Leeds is still one of the greatest live albums in rock, and without a doubt the best ever done with only three instrumentalists.

Yeah, Band Of Gypsys is as good to me, but not better.

Man. Put two very tough choices to me...Band Of Gypsys versus Live At Leeds??!
I absolutely go cross-eyed listening to either of them!
Machine Gun v. Young Man Blues? Oh my fucking GOD! Melon, I agree with you totally. Dead heat.
And with the echoes of Live @ Leeds just slightly muddling my decision, Zepp's getting my vote because their first 4 and a half albums rocked my world to fucking delirium right from the get-go.
The Who made their first blip on my radar with I Can See For Miles, but they were just a singles band until Who's Next, tho Tommy and Quadrophenia showed some extremely inspired flashes, but just didn't KILL the way that Zepp's 1 through 4 AND large sections of House Of The Holy did.....post-HotH did little but piss me off at Zep squandering their talents, until Presence...
Interestingly Aerosmith also followed the self-same 4 and a half killer albums and out-pattern... though Joe Perry's 'Love In An Elevator' guitar break still slays me.

RocDoc-Houses of the Holy IS AWESOME! What don't you like about it? Im serious! Please enlighten us! I can understand that after IV it was a bit of a departure but even songs like "Dyer Maker" and "The Crunge" were bits of light relief--the rest of the record is super tight.
