I came up with an interesting observation this morning when I heard a bit of Whole Lotta Love on the radio while driving in....my impression was that Bonzo was a pretty straightforward kinda 4/4 drummer and Moon was the polyrhythmic syncopated madman....but all day I've been trying to think of an example of the Who bringing any sense of swing or a syncopated (or dropped) beats that the entire band then followed, the way that Bonham did on Whole Lotta Love, for just one song.
And yes we're all basically pretty sick of 'Whole Lotta..', but you do need to hear it again with the idea in your minds to hear Zep bend themselves to Bonzo's riffing...
Moon was nearly always syncopating away, all by his lonesome, with all sorta crazy filigrees, but the rest of the band never (or rarely...'Join Together' has a bit of a hitch to the riff) followed him along that impulse...and granted, I need to yank out some Who tomorrow and test this in real time, b3ecause it's entirely possible that my memory is serving me badly on this. But really I do think that's the case...re Zepp 'swinging'...

Pete Townshend's birthday was on Saturday...his 62nd.
Played a snatch of an interview with him and he said
'No I don't feel old...but then I look the backs of my hands and think 'These aren't my hands! These are an old man's hands!''

"Hope I die before I get old"
I guess he has to regard that line with a certain amount of tongue-in-cheek these days!
