I think those are the main five, unless someone corrects me. Not even close, for me. Pearl Jam deserves to win this and they probably will.

Soundgarden totally kicked PJ's ass. They're idiots for splitting up. Their albums also don't sound as dated as PJ's do. I can still listen to any given Soundgarden album. Those old Pearl Jam albums now bore me to tears. Pearl Jam are to 90s rock what Bon Jovi were to 80s rock. But you're right Melon, PJ will win this. Apart from the Prince vs Jimi poll, I've never voted for a winner on these boards. Unless of course you count Nelson winning the best Pink Floyd album.

Kool- you're just too kool and underground to be amongst the moral majority.
I voted for an outright loser in this poll but a band, at their peak was unbeatable.

I've struggled long and hard - maybe up to 3 minutes - over this decision. They're all good, though I've never spent much time with Mudhoney to be honest.
Ultimately I guess Soundgarden 'only' recorded 2 great albums, Alice In Chains 1-2, depending on your tastes (Dirt's a definite classic), and Nirvana gave us In Utero, which is amazing. Pearl Jam, on the other hand - yeah, I admit Ten and Vs are a bit dated, but they still have plenty to offer, before you start looking at classic albums like Vitalogy and the fantastic No Code etc. Plus they have values and ethics and other unexpected things like that. Yeah, Pearl Jam get my vote I think.
Top 5 albums from this bunch:
1. No Code 2. Dirt 3. Superunknown 4. Badmotorfinger 5. In Utero

Are Pavement from Seattle?

One of them is from Portland I think. No, I just wanted to be contrary.
The best bands from Seattle? It's a hard one. I have been such a fan of that city's music scene for so long it's hard to choose. I'm going to have to think about this one for a while.

I saw this poll last night, and just had time to vote w/o any comments. It's actually really close for me between PJ and Nirvana, and I felt like SOMEONE should show Kurt, Krist, and Dave some love. And anyway, In Utero is the best album by any of these bands, and IMHO Nirvana had the potential to do a hell of a lot more, as evidenced by their dramatic/chilling Unplugged performance (also arguably better than anything done by any of these other bands). Much as I love Pearl Jam, they were in Nirvana's shadow for as long as Kurt was around. And since the poll title specifically says "best Seattle band of the '90s," I didn't consider PJ's post 1999 output in this. These are all fine bands, but they all come up short compared to what Nirvana accomplished in their short career. And Cobain had more charisma than his peers, too, which is part of why they were the ones to kick down the door to mainstream MTV and radio acceptance. I know it's all the rage to bash Nirvana these days, but I still miss Kurt.

Ken, your post was inspiring. Thus, it is the reason why I voted for Nirvana. I have to say that when I look back on it, Nirvana was the cornerstone for me and still are in a lot of ways. I don't think I'd be into 90 percent of what I'm into now if it wasn't for Nirvana.

I almost regret not voting for Nirvana. I'm an "anything but Pearl Jam" voter, so I'd prefer it if they won the poll here. fwiw, I really used to love PJ and I still think highly of Vitalogy and No Code. It's just that they lost me after Binaural. That was last PJ album I actually bought. btw, In Utero is indeed, fantastic. I'm just not sure if it's better than Badmotorfinger or Superunknown.

Four songs that are, to me, better than ANYTHING from the other four bands:
Indifference, Black, Present Tense & Off He Goes

I couldn't care less about any of those bands. I vote Nelson.
