Yeah, I just ordered a Mudhoney CD yesterday. Haven't heard it since I was a teenager.

I voted for Mudhoney. Because they deserve at least one vote, and they rocked considerable ass. "Touch Me I'm Sick" will always be a favorite play of mine! And speaking of going out and buying some old Mudhoney, I'm about to set out to pick up some pre- Loud Love Soundgarden as I've only got that shit on cassettes scattered about.....

Mudhoney's cover of Sonic Youth's "Halloween" has to be one of the toughest things I have ever heard. I spun that a few times this weekend after reading this discussion. I also jammed out some "No Code" and "Vitalogy". That was pretty fun. It took me back to some old times that is for sure.

Also, one of the best things during the era of grunge was Sub Pop's Singles Club, which I was a memeber of. They had some really boss bands put out some really choice 7 inches during that time.

The only Screaming Trees album I own/have heard is Dust. I remember liking it but I haven't given it a spin in years. What other ST albums are worth checking out?

the only other one i had besides dust was sweet oblivion. theyre both great albums. they released a best of last year sometime comprised of songs from their three major label records, the first of which, uncle anesthesia, i have yet to find, although i do have a four song promo ep for that one, which is pretty good. i have yet to hear any of their older sst releases.
as a band the screaming trees always had their own distinct sound, both with lanegans voice and the guitar playing/tones, and barrett martin is a hell of a drummer. as far as lanegan is concerned, i have yet to hear him do anything i havent liked. i have several of his solo albums and i love them, and im kind of sad that the second mad season album that was being talked about with him on vocals instead of layne never panned out.

voted PJ.
Well, guess that was kinda obvious coming from me, but that's how I feel and I'm sticking to it. I've grown more attached to them w/ age, and since about 1998 became a really big fan. Perhaps my vote is out of bias, but from the bands included on the poll, Pearl Jam, IMO is the most impressive. They've done their own thing, and over the course of the 90's released 5 solid albums. All 5 had a different feel, yes they have a Pearl Jam sound, but Ten, and No Code sound nothing alike. Vitalogy and Yield have completely different feels, and Vs., was a much more raw and aggressive album over the more relaxed, and very polished debut. I think Pearl Jam grew, and challenged themselves more so than the other bands. This in no way is a slam against the other bands, I like them all.
Screaming Trees are a band I completely neglected. I've never owned a thing by them, but want to check 'em out one day.

I really liked "Nearly Lost You" alot when it came out. I have every Trees release and every Lanegan release and I have been a big fan of both for quite a long time. Screaming Trees gets jammed alot, to this day, around my place. Also hearing Lanegan and Grohl on QOTSA's best record so far is pretty amazing as well. Proves my point that those guys were more talented than I thought when they were at their height in the 90s.
