I don't know....I feel like "Facelift" has aged well. I sometimes wonder if maybe it's because "alternative radio" is just filled with below average bands that have the same sound as Alice in Chains. Other times, I think you might be right. "Dirt" is just awesome. I think you're pretty spot on w/ this post. For me, it hasn't aged well, but maybe that's because of all the crappy spawns AIC help to create. Perhaps I'm just sick of that sound. Maybe it's time to give my grunge collections, less Pearl Jam, another spin.

Oh yeah, I added Screaming Trees to my pandora Pearl Jam station. Hopefully I'll get better acquainted with them over the next few weeks. Right now, "Alice Said" is playing, I kinda dig it so far.

I liked the movie as well, but I have always been a pretty big fan of Cameron Crowe. I listened to that soundtrack as well this weekend and I realized a few things. The first is that after hearing Smashing Pumpkins' amazing psychedelic masterpiece "Drown", I will just never be into any sort of new Pumpkins record. That song is just amazing. The other thing I realized is after hearing Cornell's "Seasons", I would have liked to have seen his solo material go into something of that vein as well. He'd be the new Nick Drake if he did that. There is some seriously choice stuff on there. True dat ("dat" being the entire post). You just happened to mention the 2 best songs on the Singles soundtrack, which I also own. I personally think that "Seasons" is the best song Cornell has ever sung and likewise to "Drown" and Corgan. I have to admit that Corgan's version of "Landslide" takes my breath away, but I would still put "Drown" just a hair over it and proclaim it Smashing Pumpkins' best song and one of the top 10 or so songs of the 90s. I've never heard their greatest hits album but I took a look at the tracklist once and noticed that "Drown" was on there. That's truly ridiculous that he put a shorter version of it. Idiot. I'm still bitter about the time he played for 45 minutes at Oxford, MS on the Siamese Dream tour and left during intermission because, and I quote (from a security guard backstage)"they aren't cheering loud enough...." Asshole.
