I think the only things I have on my radar as of now are the new Raveonettes album next month and then the new REM in April.

^ I'm looking forward to both of those releases myself. Do you know if Bill Berry is back in the fold for REM? I had heard some rumors concerning that but nothing was ever confirmed for that.

R.E.M's new album Accelerate in March / April... can't bloody wait! The band sounds really fired up, some people who previewd it online said it was alot like New Adventures in Hi Fi, and it rocks!!! In a way that will probably make Around the Sun kinda pale into the background... as much as I enjoy that album, it would still be easily topped by a more in form sounding R.E.M...
But anyways, I'm totally with you on the R.E.M thing Weeping! Not sure about those Bill Berry rumours though - I've read no official documentation of him being back in the band, he has appeared with them from time to time for one off's but definitely not in a committed "coming back to the fold" sorta way... Ex Ministry drummer Bill Reiflin plays drums on all of Accelerate and has toured with R.E.M for some time now...
Also looking forward to Peter Gabriel's "Big Blue Ball" project... apparently started some fifteen years ago and to be released this year... Mr. Gabriel tends to pretty putsy with releases lately... but this one looks to be exciting... I even saw some video clips from fifteen years ago of the recording process... and who should appear in one of the clips? None other than the Finn brothers, Neil and Tim - not sure what their participation was, but it looks to be something of an interesting album...
Really, really want to pick up some of Devin Townsend's "Devlab" ambientg projects too... so many discs...

A few discs that I'll no doubt be checking out this year:
American Music Club – The Golden Age Antony and the Johnsons – The Crying Light The B-52's – Funplex Billy Bragg – Mr. Love and Justice Cadence Weapon – Afterparty Babies (Highly anticipating this one. Could break Mr. Pemberton into legitimate 'Next Big Thing' turf.) Camouflage Nights – s/t Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! Coldplay – Prospekt (He said, ruefully, but with Eno auteuring, I will at least have to hear it.) Destroyer – Trouble in Dreams Kathleen Edwards – Asking for Flowers Final Fantasy – Heartland (+ the EPs 'Spectrum 14th Century' and 'Final Fantasy Plays to Please') The Futureheads – Broke Up the Time (Didn't like the last one at all but what the hey…) Goldfrapp – Seventh Tree The Kills – Midnight Boom Daniel Lanois – Here Is What Is The Long Blondes – Couples (Loved 'Someone to Drive You Home'. Curious to see what they come up with next.) Gary Louris – Vagabonds Kate Maki - On High Aimee Mann – Smilers Colin Meloy – Skulls, Ship, Sheep The New Odds (Really, really, really looking forward to this one. No info on a title or release date yet, but Northey said on his blog in December that they were hoping to have it out this spring.) R.E.M. – Accelerate (2007 Christmas single displayed a modicum of effort, for the first time in eons, so maybe they'll put their backs into this one.) The Scenics – How Does It Feel to Be Loved? The Scenics Play the Velvet Underground, 1977-81 Silver Mt. Zion – 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons Tindersticks – The Hungry Saw Hawksley Workman – Between the Beautifuls
And a few I already have pretty much thumbs up across the board...
British Sea Power – Do You Like Rock Music? Jason Collett – Here's to Being Here Hello, Blue Roses – The Portrait Is Finished and I Have Failed to Capture Your Beauty Joe Jackson – Rain The Mountain Goats – Heretic Pride

That Raveonettes-album (Lust Lust Lust) I have on stock now- sure you can't order it in somehow? Yeah, I think it's been out in the rest of the world since late last year but sadly not here until Feb. I know they switched labels here so I don't know if that has to do with the delayed release here or not. Anyways, from what I've heard from it I really love. I know Bill Berry plays with REM rarely for special events but I do not believe he's back in the band.

Led Zeppelin guitarist wants world tour By ERIC TALMADGE, Associated Press Writer Mon Jan 28, 8:04 AM ET TOKYO - Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page said Monday he was ready to take the iconic band on a world tour after burning up the stage at last month's reunion concert in London. But it probably won't be before September. "The amount of work we put into O2 was what you would normally put into a world tour anyway," Page, 64, said of the intense rehearsing the band did for the Dec. 10 concert at London's O2 Arena.
The band's three surviving members — Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones — were joined at the sold-out benefit show by the late John Bonham's son Jason on drums.
Page, who was in Japan to promote the new Zeppelin release, "Mothership," said the two-hour-plus concert was proof that Led Zeppelin can still perform at its best.
He said the band, which formed in 1968, was ready musically to get back together and take it out on a wider run, but it was not clear when it would go on tour as the singer had other plans.
"Robert Plant has a parallel project and he is busy with that until September," Page said.
Plant and bluegrass star Alison Krauss will begin their world tour with a run of shows in the southern U.S. this spring. The two released an album in October called "Raising Sand" that debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard chart in the U.S. The duo will tour Europe in May before returning for North American shows still to be announced for June and July.
Page said the band set their standards very high before agreeing to do the reunion, their first in 20 years. Led Zeppelin broke up in 1980 after the elder Bonham's death.
Page said they rehearsed for weeks, apprehensive that the cohesion they had in the 1970s when they were at their peak might be hard to rediscover.
"We wanted people who might not have even been alive in 1980 when we finished to understand what we were," he said.
Page said all went well until he broke a finger in three places, forcing the band to postpone the show for several weeks.
"But we did the show, and it was great," he said. "It was instant in terms of chemistry."

That new Vampire Weekend record just dropped and I had been interested in getting that. They were one of the ones I forgot to mention I was excited about for this year. Despite the hype that surrounds them, the few songs I have heard off of the new album are quite infectious.

SHit, that is a BADass pic of Jimmy up there ! World Tour, hell yeah ! Count me in dammit.
~
I prepaid my Mars Volta BEDLAM IN GOLIATH for today . . . and received an ultra-limited bonus 5" disc featuring their cover of "Candy and a Currant Bun", an early Floyd classic (syd barrett era) and get this: the 5" bonus disc has vinyl on one side and a CD/video on the other. Weird, huh?

RE: Led Zep-tour- I expect more from the upcoming Plant/Krauss tour, which holds the boys up until at least september...somehow I just knew that they couldn't resis the potentila millions a reunion tour would rake in. Bastards.

I'm actually a bit disappointed that they may do the tour. The gravy-train has to be a part of it....just like the multi 'Best of' packages they sudden seemed to be putting out every few years. When Mothership came out, I thought What,,,,another one?? They were getting worse than Jethro Tull or Yes.
On the other hand, I give the guys LOTS of respect too. It's been well over 25 years now and this is a cash cow they could've milked far, far ago. Maybe afterall there is just a bit of wanting to do it TO DO IT and just go home with a smile on their faces.

Shit, we will all be lucky to live to Led Zeppelins surviving members age. And if If I were in Led Zeppelin and I want to tour then so the f98k be it. Beats the fuck out of playing cribbage in a nursing home....no booze, no women. gruel! Hand puppets! F*&k that!
I have read a whole bunch of crap about how the tracks on the Led Zeppelin comp "MOTHERSHIP" sounded better than the already remastered catalogue and that they were going to reissue it all once again. Cmon man! What were they personally remastered by Jimmy Page? LEAVE IT ALONE!
I wish my LIFE could be remastered! Make it clear and clean, full of fidelity and no tape hiss--no wait- I want the hiss in there...no wait--my life is cool.....
Led Zeppelin is a band that is best experienced album by album. I wasent of age (I was fucking 5 when In Through The Out Door came out) of their music while they were together. But when I heard the music it blew my mind. There is no BEST OF comp when it comes to Led Zeppelin. I don't really have a point here. Led Zeppelin was not an instant band. stupid comment--take it with a grain-- I just wish vinyl would come back, Atlantic would be a real label again, and they would issue the shit the way its supposed to be heard.
