You guys should be making new threads for new topics

Why? It was A LOT easier to keep up with CE when it was on just one. Then you just look at the "last post" know if you've read it, and know if you need to click on it. When you have multiple threads, you can't do that.

Yeah but we don't have the "last post you've read" option here. It's a pain i the ass to recall which page you read last, especially once things eventually get into the hundreds of pages.
With topics like this, once a thread dies, you don't have to follow it anymore. And that's good because some events only need about 5 or so posts concerning it, plus you can inoculate yourself from what you'd rather not read about.

I disagree. I guess that's why we're all lucky to have free will.

Shin, you're no doubt right that that would be a better way to use this particular set up but it seems pretty inevitable that the old RS.com ways of doing business are going to be mimicked here, at least initially. After all, a lot of people were pretty attached to their favourite boards on the old site, so the natural tendency is to try to recreate that here. May not be too a big deal anyway, if we're only here temporarily.

That is an excellent idea, shin. I think I'm going to do just that (and I know just the board).

Maybe, just maybe we can talk Strat into taking the threads (little by little, as he gets the time) that really should be boards and turn them into boards of their own. I'd rather see more individual, identifiable boards with a few threads than a whole bunch of threads with board topics. I get so confused...

dunno...I kind of like the rambling anarchy that ensued at rs.com...the need to stick to the topic was pretty loose, and I'd like the same feel here.
When I visit a page, it displays in the future as purple, so I know where I've been...
I really dont want to have to sift through a zillion boards to find some real interaction....that was the downfall of a lot of the rs.com boards..there were too many..

Well, it's kind of a free-for-all, good or bad. I am trying to do as KayJay described, pretty much. Of course, anyone is free to start a topic on any boards. Just as at RS, some will take off, some will go in fits and starts, some will limp along, and some will die an ignominous death.

Why does the 'bold' just read so cool to me?

I like the idea of a free-for-all when it comes to the rambling boards, but it's impossible to post anything on current events unless you keep up with EVERY POST. For instance, I'd never have posted that Natalee Holloway thing on the original CE for fear that you guys had done it to death four hundred posts ago. It's just not practical in this particular board.
