Yeah, good fun, Riley, but I don’t know there, bud; kinda high on those Harper numbers, aren’t you? Mary posted a link to a similar quiz on the 2004 US election on the old RS.com and I want you to know – I was quite pleased to see that my Harper numbers on this one are substantially below even my Bush-Cheney numbers on that one! ;D

Yeah I was a bit surprised to be honest, and I'm not sure what category(s) would have driven that. I tried to be completely objective, so maybe I'm just not quite as far left as I'd like to believe.
Still though, 100 points for Layton means most of are obviously pretty much on the same page in general.

Well, there is that matter of working for the infernal 'Man', Riley. All kidding aside, a quiz like that can’t possibly give you more than the most general outline of your political preferences. Although yeah, it is interesting that we’re all scoring perfect 100’s for Layton. Looks like we’re also a bunch of raving separatists, eh?

Well I don't know a single thing about Canadian politics but I took that quiz anyway cause those quizzes are always kinda fun! There were a few that involved specific Canadian issues that I just couldn't have an opinion on (should there be settled election dates - this is a parliamentary government matter that I just don't really even understand the stakes of, for example) but all the same, here's my ratings of a bunch of candidates who mean nothing to me Layton - 100 Duceppe - 77 Martin - 41 Harper - 9 So now... is some kind Canadian going to enlighten me as to what any of this means?? Cheers, M

Hey, Mary, great to see you drop by. Basically what that means is move to Canada! OK, not quite cause Jack Layton isn’t going to win this election but to put it into American terms: - Stephen Harper is the leader of the Conservative Party, which as currently constituted means he’s essentially a Canadian Republican.
- The current Prime Minister and Liberal leader, Paul Martin, is sort of a leftish Democrat – economically right wing but generally socially progressive.
- Gilles Duceppe doesn’t really have an American counterpart. He leads the Bloc Quebecois which is a left wing Quebec separatist party in the federal parliament.
- Jack Layton, the NDP leader, is a Communist. OK, that’s not true, he’s a social democrat but in American terms what’s the difference, right?

Jack Layton Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada (score = 100)
Gilles Duceppe Leader of the Bloc Quebecois (score = 53)
Stephen Harper Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (score = 42)
Paul Martin Leader of Liberal Party of Canada, Prime Minister of Canada (score = 32)
Mary: You might enjoy a little Canadian history, we had a prime minister who reffered to a crystal ball.

Hmmm... my results:
Layton - 100 Duceppe - 64 Martin - 28 Harper - 16
I'm a little higher for Harper than I anticipated too. Scary bastard.

Considering i'm voting as if it was a 2 party system, i was hoping to see Paul Martin a bit higher.

Why throw my vote away when the conservatives have a good chance at it?
