Um...I just said that. That I was interesting enough to do some research into...sorry if I wasn't clear enough on that. One of the reasons I read both CNN.com(even though truthfully CNN is a bit spineless) and Foxnews(even though Foxnews is ridiculously biased towards the current adminstration) is that I know as you've said the truth lies somewhere in the middle. There be the same article on both sites but they're edited differently for a different tone or they'll use the same quotes but in different contexts...it's really quite interesting...and if I find something that strikes my fancy I'll google it. The way you talk to me speaks volumes about what you think of me and maybe I should let you know that while sometimes I've not made of my mind and just want to get another opinion, other times I just want to see just how high up on your soapbox you'll climb. I'm not stupid Chrisfan, I don't think you are either. You've caught me sometimes and you've been caught a few times yourself...the difference I'll admit it...most of the time.

DED, you can play this little insult game all that you want. I've been attempting (although I may not always be successful at it) to not fall into that game with you, because I have enjoyed having this discussion with you. But when you say things that don't make sense, I don't think I have any choice but to ask for clarification. I've done that through both asking you questions and trying to tell you what it sounds to me like you are saying.
I remain completely confused on where you are coming from on this one. Let me recap.
After I said I considered your critique on this issue to be very hypocritical, you explained that you stood where you did because you had not seen all of the ads, and did not know about the ads on both sides. They'd been mentioned several times, so this came as a bit of surprise to me, but okay. I then believe that you've been basing all of your comments on seeing the swift boat ad alone, and not looking at both sides of the issue (or in this case, ads from both sides), and I state that. But then you say that you are informed on the issue, because you've read both Fox NEws and CNN. So I"m still a bit confused in knowing whether reading these sources has enlightened you to ads from both sides, but whatever.
I'm not being insulting here, I'm being honest. It sounds like if I say you're hypocritical, your defense is that you aren't, because you don't know about both sides. Then if I state that you're not completely informed on the issue, you say that's not true, you've read up on it. So then I say you do know about both sides, so you're being hypocritical. You say that's not true, because you haven't seen all the ads. So I say you're not completely ifnormed on the issue, and you say I'm on a soapbox.
I guess I could try diagramming it at this point, but I have no idea where you stand or what your position is anymore.

I have to be honest...I'm confused too. I'm not being hypocritical because the subject was the swift boat ad. I've given my two cents on that when then topic turned to all 527 I didn't give a clear answer at first and then I said they should all be ignored, I said there where bigger issues that should be talked about. You then tell me I'm a hypocrite for not getting outraged over ads that lie about Bush as well, I tell you while I'm sure they exsist I don't have any specific examples except for the moveon ad that Kerry asked them to pull which is sort of null at this point. Then you've spent the rest of the afternoon linking to articles that I've agreed with you on and trying you're very best to make me look dumb...maybe you've suceeded...you accuse me of trying to play games, I'm sitting here trying to figure why you're playing games. The last couple of days we have had reasonably enjoyable conversations but today you started on the attack. So let me try to recap: 1. On the swift ad- I thought it was out of line and thought Bush should denouce it as Kerry had another ad attacking Bush. 2. On all 527's - I don't like them, but there's not much we can do except try to move on to bigger issues 3. I'm a hypocrite and I don't know why. 4. Spend all afternoon defending myself.
I hope this helps.

Glossing over 98% of what someone says(while being things of at least somesubstance) to just say 'Oh, listen to the 'almighty' here', fucking screeeams 'shallow'.
IF then it seems to fit this image:
Besides I'm just a kid who likes to party, and doesn't know what he's talking about. Oh and I'm hip because I don't like the president. Look at me go, look how hip I am!
...then fuck, THAT is on YOU. You are, apparently TOTALLY unbeknownst to yourself, wrapping yourself in it. Shit, enjoy!
The kneejerk dipshit act IS what I see...no depth of thought for THAT conclusion is required from me either.

Just to clear a few things up for the sake of clarity:
1. In my eyes, this discussion was about all 527s pretty much from the get go. It was about all 527s when Shin and I were discussing it, before you and I started. I recognize that Shin has tried to accuse me of making it about all 527s to dodge the real issue. But in truth, John Kerry made it about all 527s early on. That explains that misunderstanding though, if you thought it was about one thing, and I thought it was about something else.
2. I have not been playing games. I have been stating my opinions, and trying to understand yours.
3. I have not spent the afternoon trying to make you look dumb. I have spent part of the afternoon trying to come up with good ways to rationalize not working out tonight, and i've spent part of the afternoon trying to get my media player to work so I could hear Jeb Bush, but I haven't spent any time this afternoon trying to make you look dumb.
4. I still firmly believe that people who are limiting their outrage of 527s to the swift boat ads are hypocrites. Especially if they bought a ticket to Farenheit 9/11. But that's an entirely different can of worms.
5. I still think that McCain Feingold was crap legislation, that anyone who wants to express an opinion on an election should be able to, and that if candidates were more responsible in respecting the intelligence of the American people by being honest with them, then they wouldn't have to deal with non-politicians who play their games better than they do.

Well, I haven't seen Farenheit 9/11 either. I'd like to but I just don't have the time to drive an hour or more to do so. Though I recognise that Moore is terribly biased, I also recognose the differnence between buying a ticket to something that you know what it's about and being subjected to it while trying to enjoy Seinfeld reruns.

The F911 DVD comes out soon, DED.
Man if I have to read one more thing about 527s I'm gunna puke. 527s, 527s, 527s, 527s, enough with that shit already.

I see your point on the difference between seeking out a message and seeing it whether you ask to or not, and it's a good one. But when you compare Moore and the swift boat dudes, don't they both have the same goal, in effecting the outcome of an election? And don't they take the same tactics, in lying about things and distorting the truth, or not presenting the full picture? I have to say that I don't understand how you can not want to see the swift boat ads, but want to see F-9/11.

Alot of it has to with that distinction of being a privatised forum...you have to seek it out, but at the same time I looked for the Swift boat ad I didn't jusy happen to see it one day. I guess the fact that's not a commercial in between sitcoms there's not much difference... I'll certainly have to think about that...

I see that you found my source. I've found that posters who live in Athens are even more reliable than the olympics website!
