I'm going to reverse my personal opinion of Ann Coulter after seeing about her new book on www.newsmax.com. I've never seen a grosser display of pride than I see coming from her. Even if I agree with her on some things and her wit sometimes eases my frustration with half of this country, she has gone overboard when she says she believes in "tough love" with liberals without the last part of that. I personally wish she would just shut up.

Well, I promised to get back to the healthcare issue, although over the course of the day, I've lost most of my enthusiasm for comment. I can't really add anything to the argument that I haven't already said in the past, nevertheless I'll put a few comments out there.
First, JLLM, I shudder at the thought of a socialized, state controlled healthcare system. I realize that you can probably regale me with all the benefits of such a system til the cows come home, but I'm sure I've probably read just as many thoughtful treatises against such a system. I'll also say that I don't have all the answers, hell I might not have any of the answers. Since the so-called "experts" in this country are all over the map as to solutions, I won't allow myself to feel bad about that. Some thoughts of mine:
1. First and foremost; tort reform! That's right, rein in the lawsuits/litigation, and the enrichment of the trial lawyers. It's a shame that in some parts of this country disciplines such as OB/GYNs are virtually non-existent or in severe shortage, simply because the cost of mal-practice insurance (and hence the cost of doing business) is so high. It's not only a shame, it's ridiculous.
2. Expansion and liberalization of health savings accounts (HSAs). These accounts allow people to put money away for their own healthcare expenses. The money contributed to these accounts is tax deductible. People could contribute unlimited sums to these accounts and use these tax free funds to help pay for healthcare. Additionally, these accounts would follow a person through job changes, etc. I also think they would serve another purpose as well. They would make people more responsible for their own healthcare. Examples might include even wider use of cheaper generic drugs, shopping around for the best price in healthcare, thinking twice about elective (as opposed to necessary) surgery, etc. Things like that. I think when people are in a position to know just how expensive healthcare can be, they may make better choices, rather than just taking it all for granted.
3. My final point would be to allow small businesses to pool resources (and spread risks) in purchasing health insurance for their employees, letting them shop for, and negotiate lower prices. This is currently not allowed by law as far as I know.
I realize I probably haven't laid out anything earth shattering, and you may vehemently disagree with my POV, but I did spend a lot of time on this post (I type like shit), and it's sincere, as well as generally faithful to my conservative principles. It's certainly not a be-all, end-all solution, much has to be done, but I feel it would be a good start, and it preserves the private sector/free market model.
Thoughts, comments, criticisms?

Why is it that everytime I see Edwards I end up wanting to watch My Cousin Vinny? Could it be they were both ambulance chasers.LOL, the only difference is that Vinny could actually get his point across.

It is a very nice tan though...not as orange as some people say..he's very George Hamilton. I can't vote against george Hamilton. I didn'tknow he was in Vietnam though...even more reason to through my vote his way. If only he were both the most liberal and worst flip flopping senater ever he'd be perfect.
