Also excluding unknown local bands (although including semi-known local bands). A whole lot of bands I saw in middle school on this list, or opening for better bands, but I'll include any who some people around here are famliar with:
The White Stripes (7 times) Wilco (4 times) Guided by Voices (3 times) Red Hot Chili Peppers (twice) Blanche (a million times) The Arcade Fire The Pixies (twice) Lou Reed Sleater-Kinney The Black Keys (suck) Thunderbirds Are Now! (okay, they are a pretty unknown local band, but I'm pretty geeked on them right now and I've seen them many times) The Von Bondies (also a whole lot of times, although I'm not sure why--I never really liked them much...I guess it was just for the sake of going to shows) The Toadies (twice) Pearl Jam Sonic Youth (3 times) The Violent Femmes Sponge (3 times) The Strokes (3 times) Eric Clapton Johnny Cash The Rolling Stones Iggy & the Stooges (!!!!!!!!) Iggy Pop (sans Stooges) Stone Temple Pilots (twice) Live (twice) Jane's Addiction Godspeed You Black Emperor! AC/DC Collective Soul Yo La Tengo Sparta Buckcherry Slash's Snakepit The Datsuns (three times if you include 2 Pixies opening slots) The D4 Eyes Adrift Fishbone (twice) Neil Young The Gin Blossoms Jimmy Eat World The Modey Lemon (twice) Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise The Verve Pipe Outrageous Cherry Getaway Cruiser Starlight Desperation The Dirtbombs (see the note on the Von Bondies) The Detroit Cobras (ditto) The Sights (many times, until they started to suck) The Soledad Brother (many times--would like to see them many more) The Go (many times)

I just read on CNN.com that Johnnie Cochran is dead. It says hardly anything more.

I just read on CNN.com that Johnnie Cochran is dead. It says hardly anything more. Apparently, it was an inoperable brain tumor.

Thanks for the clarification. I was confused as to what was the cause.

I figured that Johnnie Cochran had to be in bad shape when he did not make the trip to DC for his case before the Supreme Court last week.

Tough break for Johnnie, that.
As much as I despised how the "Dream Team" got O.J. off, there was something likeable about him. Maybe it was that he had a sense of humor. He had a way with words, but it used to annoy me to no end when he'd say, "If the court please..." I suppose it's perfectly acceptable courtroom decorum, but it sounds so arrogant to me. Not, "If it please the court," but "If the court please." Anybody know anything about that?
I think I'd need hypnosis to remember half the shows I've seen. Some that seem to have made an impression include:
The Who Aerosmith (3-4) The Allman Bros (3) Grateful Dead The Doobie Bros (2) Stevie Ray Vaughn (3) Black Sabbath (2) Robin Trower U2 Van Halen ZZ Top Rush (2) Foreigner / Styxx / Journey / Boston (too many) Blue Oyster Cult (3) Heart Molly Hatchet (2) Bad Company / Paul Rogers Johnny Winter (2) Jeff Beck (2) Crosby, Stills & Nash Joe Cocker Jethro Tull B.B. King Johnny Shines Iggy Pop Johnny Cougar (pre-"Melloncamp") Chuck Negron (of Three Dog Night) War (harp player sat in with us!) Los Lobos Bonnie Raitt Georgia Satellites Alabama Symphony Orchestra (7-10) Chuck Berry The Wholigans! Goo-Goo Dolls (singer sat in with us)
That's just a smidgeon, really...

Speaking of Kate on tour, I watched the directors cut of Almost Famous yesterday. What a great movie. Easily better then Say Anything. I realize I'm way behind here...been at work for the last 3 days, and have to go back tomorrow, but msg. board geek that I am, (and poor lifeless bastard), trying to catch up... Almost Famous is a great movie, and remains among my all-time favorites. What a great trip down memory lane. That movie reminds me of when I was young...what a difference compared to today. FM radio was completely different, there seemed to be so much more diversity in music, in life... Lester Bangs, Creem magazine...yeah, great times. I love that movie...and Kate Hudson was gorgeous, not to mention putting in a great performance.

Matter of fact I saw Cracker and The Gin Blossoms back in the day. I still like Cracker too.
I only have one Cracker album...Kerosene Hat, and I did something I normally don't do...I bought that album for only one tune... the song Low. Christ, I love that song. An added bonus was that the album in it's entirety turned out to be pretty damned good!

I figured that Johnnie Cochran had to be in bad shape when he did not make the trip to DC for his case before the Supreme Court last week. Several months ago, he announced he was undergoing treatment...he just never said for what. I guess now we know. I never liked him, he got a murderer off (IMO), and he was a pompous ass... he was a great lawyer though, and it's a shame he died so young.

As for getting thru all the posts regarding Terri Schiavo; I made my opinion clear long ago. I can't add anything to the debate, and there's no reason for me to rehash old arguments now.

I'll take the plunge with listing some bands I've seen. The list isn't complete, and details of many shows have been dimmed by age, time, and heavy alcohol and recreational drug use/abuse. Anyway, my list as of now (before I lay me down to sleep)...
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
Grand Funk Railroad
Rush
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Jackson Browne
Aerosmith
Kiss
The Who
Black Sabbath
Rolling Stones
Queensryche
Pearl Jam
AC/DC
Bad Company
Alice Cooper
REO Speedwagon (just a comment here...this was the early days, before they got all sappy and sucked)
Blue Oyster Cult
Pink Floyd
Deep Purple
Doobie Brothers
Boston
Queen
Robin Trower

Glad to see a bunch of Aerosmith in there. I also think everyone should see Metallica at least once in their life. Or ten times would be better.
