No, it'd be the same most of the time until we get to bickering. Twice as much current events. I mean no harm in trying at least...if both boards turn out to be dull as a dog ass then we go back to the strong arm approach.

Like you DED, I'll make this my last comment on the matter ... Honestly, nothing around here is a matter of "two rooms". Every poster her has the ability to create new threads. If you want a joking around about comic books and indie rock as government board, it can be created. There are boards that are for having fun and dicking around (Kat's board, the Wacko board, etc) and there are boards that are for a specific topic (CE, Weepings Movie Board, etc). Normally, it runs pretty well, because everyone respects those boundaries. The people who really enjoy the movie board would get pissed (and have in the past) of the topic strays off of film for too long. The people on the wacko board would get pissed (and have in the past) if the topic strays to religion or politics for too long. The problem that happened here is that a topic board strayed off topic, and there were a small few who decided that it woudl be fun to keep it that way. They ignored polite requests, they ignored angry requests. When alternatives were offered out of anger, they were mocked and became a secondary location for dicking around. It' all about respecting everyone in the forum, and the respect was gone. I think Strat-o did a hell of a lot better job of dealing with it than most of the rest of us would. Is banning Ken extreme? Maybe. But I personally think that his dicking around was extreme too. And considering that when this kind of thing has happened in the past (forutnately rarely) Strat-o has been more than open to hearing everyone out on the issue, and has said very up front this time that the ban is not necessarily permanent, I think he's being pretty damn fair.

Chrisfan would never have created that "other" board if not for the immature and irrepressable comic book hero thread. I took the creation of that board more as a statement of protest and not so much as Chrisfan wanting to add yet another board to the already crowded forum. If the comic thread and the other B.S. had subsided there would have been no reason for her to make the other board. The fact that it is doing such brisk business is an indicator that yes, indeed, a lot of people were fed up with the comics and wanted to discuss issues. But that still doesn't give you the right to make plans for how you're going to use this board now that you've run everyone off.
Okay, not everyone...just the ones who don't play your silly games.
No doubt if the same thing happened on an international level, involving nations and not message board posters, you'd be crying "foul" and lambasting despicable politics.
And of course you'd be right, this time.

This forum is maintained for the maximum enjoyment of all members. Any actions I take, while they may not be perfect, are a reflection of the general wishes of the membership, and never arbitrarily made on the basis of whether I like, dislike, agree with, or disagree with a poster. You have already made a mockery of Chrisfan's attempt to start another CE. THIS is CE. You must make posts that are somewhat appropriate to the board you are posting on. That is not to say there can't be any "off topic" posts or humor or the like, but posting for the sole purpose of being annoying and disruptive is not going to be tolerated on this board. If you can't get a handle on that, you will not be allowed to post on this forum. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

I can't even believe the excuses being made on behalf of the endless comic book postings. It's a fucking joke. Everybody knows, and it is transparently obvious to everyone, that you could have started your very own board on which to discuss comic books if you wanted to. In fact, it was suggested multiple times and nobody ever took the suggestion up - making it equally transparently obvious that no one really gave a shit about talking about comic books, but simply wanted to annoy CE posters (chrisfan and rocdoc in particular, it seems).

I see almost no difference between what pissin and kenny et al were doing with the comics here, and what the board bombers were doing on the old rs.com boards. It certainly had the exact same effect on my ability to read the board.

The only reason I'm bothering to post this - ordinarily I hate getting into these spats because nothing ever gets resolved - is because there seems to be so much personal and ideological animosity against chrisfan (witness someone's last posts) that I felt like someone from the other side of the fence had to speak up to make it clear this has nothing to do with political differences and everything to do with basic maturity. It seems that because the comics were mostly coming from liberal posters, and mostly annoying conservative posters, everyone has collectively lost their ability to recognize the totally obvious. No one would dream of defending me if I started posting 20 times a day on weeping's movie board gigantic pictures of famous socialist revolutionaries throughout history. Everyone would agree that I was totally obnoxious. It's exactly the same principle here and if you can't see that just because you dislike chrisfan's politics or dislike her approach to discussion then you need to take the blinders off.

....that's all I have to say about the topic, and you can respond to me if you want but I won't bother to respond to you so you can save your breath.
