Ha! For a moment there... It felt like the *Good Ol' Days*. It's nice to know some things will never change... i can't with much certainty say how it was you meant this, interms of blame-placing, fault-finding or the like, but i replied to HIS question quite civil-ly and HE's the motherfucker who came on like the dark avenger of outrage with: ...first tearing down, dismissing any and all thoughtful comment i'd just made and proceeds to lecture me...about positioning and of big business's vindictive trampling of the little folks worldwide. the GIVENS regarding expanding buisness, painted black as coal. he stated his 'obvious' truth that the afghan action is pure and simple colonalist imperialism...and I attempted to show him why it's 99.9% NOT. equally a GIVEN that it involves the taliban and it of COURSE involves bin laden and 9 / 11. interestingly he of course then FORBIDS me any inclusion of wtcs/pentagon/PA as support to MY mindset as being too inflammatory and fear-mongering. and necessarily damaging as well to HIS assertion so, he don't like it. nuh-UH. tho he works the terms 'insipid' and 'dogma'. his old-time mantra. i needed tp paint it as a defensive attack to minimize the chance of attack by al-q'aeda, talib-allied organization PROVEN as the instigator no matter the Ay-rab vector which actually carried 'it' out. doggerel' sez he. 'taliban's fine, sharia's just fine.' i rolled my fucking eyes. see, here's what i wrote: Let me ask you a question, Doc. How can Obama continue to fight the Afghanistan War if he's anti-colonial? To me, that war is about as Colonial Imperialist as it gets so I'm curious. mmm, a question as broad as the mississippi. short answer, he cannot burn down all vestiges of the colonial past in one fell swoop within a 2 and a 1/2 year period EVEN while wishing with all his might. besides the fact that the statement that 'that war is about as Colonial Imperialist as it gets' is a 99.99% complete bullshit mischaracterization. afghanistan from 9-11-2001 (at the very least) through the multilateral invasion = THEOCRACY. ie, a government based on 'god(s)' and religious beliefs/strictures. a talib theocracy to be specific. al q'aeda, their brothers were nurtured and sheltered within their borders, being completely within the circumscribed philosphy of the twisted repressive ultra-orthodoxy of THAT brand of islam. 3000 people died at the hands of this fanatic group SHELTERED and approved of by THAT government on the basis of their narrow definition of 'western immorality' and our shameful allah-lessness. and even before the invasion, al q'aeda CONTINUED to shoot off their mouths with further threats which only a moron would simply say 'yeah, sure, bring it ON!' in the days immediately following what they did in NYC, DC and PA. and we're flatout colonizing them you say? the world's nations agreed that DEFENSIVE steps needed to be taken in the wake of what THEY did. the state of that country over centuries however shows that the bloodlust and fearmongering tactics of the power-mad taliban (in the name of 'piety') will be successful upon the withdrawal of SOME degree of handholding from the west. in the most narrow definition, you could say that we're trying to model their 'new' order on our own, on european models....but in terms of democracy we do not HAVE any other models. 'the will of the people' is NOT their will if it's driven by the FEAR which the crazy-fuck taliban instills in them. a life without sharia law - that's not 'colonization'. it's refusing to cave to the social darwinism which will doom that entire region to the taliban's repression, misogyny and pathological cruelty. come on , skvor. 'success', the chances of it working out oh-so-famously, well, THAT is another matter. certaily not without the rest of the world's majority-sect muslims THEMSELVES at least beginning to police that idiotic brand of divisive fanaticism which is being branded wth THEIR name in bolded caps. short answer. THIS forced him to brand me as 'dragging out' cheney-ist, neocon ideology as my dog-and-pony show of dirty lies, which i sure as fuck didn't like. and it went from there. YOUR mindset may more closely match his however. it usually did, so i dunno. i simply don't think that I am the one who brought up this same-shit-different-day scenario albeit it's a good 2-3 years later since ANYthing of this sort has been reacted to/discussed here at ALL. so IF you think it's SSDD due to ME, well.... ~ and yeah skvor, i AM a doctor, so in between seeing 8-10 patients a day, i DO only have time to scan maybe ONE of your 'helpful' citations, not all fucking 10. between writing patient notes and keeping up on the world's events, i'd also MUCH rather be reading music sites, than reading about things which i 95% know already as you try to propogandize me to your thought pattern. nice seein' ya.

The reason why you didn't like it is because the truth hurts. If it walks like a neo-con duck and quacks like a neo-con duck, well...as you can see where I'm going with this: then it must be a neo-con duck.

YOUR 'truth' hurt me, right. i DON'T like it because my usage, my citation was totally legit. your premise is faulty and you're a clueless prick to trot out the intellectually LAZY fucking tyle of accusatory 'oh you're THIS, oh you're THAT' style of statement. when it's obvious you've got a sack of time-wasting 'assigned reading' for me to do BEFORE you'll deign to consider my statements at their face value. you're content to just chew on my ass while mulling over past eggregious 'offenses' which the worst example of 'the right' have outraged your finely-honed all-compassion no-glabalization mindset. idjit poseur playing his role.. ... and yeah skvor, i AM a doctor, so in between seeing 8-10 patients a day, i DO only have time to scan maybe ONE of your 'helpful' citations, not all fucking 10. between writing patient notes and keeping up on the world's events, i'd also MUCH rather be reading music sites, than reading about things which i 95% know already as you try to propogandize me to your thought pattern. And with statements like this, which you chalk up to propagandizing without even reading the articles, is the reason why no one takes you seriously and Galactus continues to only reply to you as "You sir, are a moron". U.S., UK raise terrorism threat level in Europe
By Caren Bohan and Kylie MacLellan – Mon Oct 4, 1:43 am ET
WASHINGTON/LONDON (Reuters) – The United States and Britain warned their citizens on Sunday of an increased risk of terrorist attacks in Europe, with Washington saying al Qaeda might target transport infrastructure.
The U.S. State Department issued a warning directed at American citizens traveling in Europe, without singling out any specific countries, saying tourists should proceed with caution.
Britain raised the terrorism threat level in its advice for citizens traveling to Germany and France to "high" from "general." It left the threat level at home unchanged at "severe," meaning an attack is highly likely, and said it agreed with the U.S. assessment for the continent as a whole.
The moves came after a week in which a number of European officials had broadly confirmed media reports that new intelligence indicated possible attacks on the continent.
Western intelligence sources said militants in hide-outs in northwest Pakistan had been plotting coordinated attacks on European cities, the plans apparently surviving setbacks from a September surge in drone strikes and an arrest.
The plot involved al Qaeda and allied militants, possibly including European citizens or residents, the sources said. In Washington, U.S. officials said Osama bin Laden and the top al Qaeda leadership were likely behind the plot, adding that the decision to issue the alert was based on an accumulation of information, rather than a specific new revelation.
Some security officials have drawn comparisons to the brazen Mumbai attacks in 2008 that targeted city landmarks such as luxury hotels and a cafe and killed 166 people.
The U.S. State Department travel alert said public transportation systems and other tourism-related facilities could be targets, noting that past attacks had struck rail, airline and boat services.
"The State Department alerts U.S. citizens to the potential for terrorist attacks in Europe," it said in an advisory on its website.
A U.S. official said President Barack Obama held meetings on Friday night and Saturday morning about the European security threat and was briefed on the situation again on Sunday morning.
The alert was posted on the State Department website at http:/travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_europe.html.
Europe is worried about how reports of the threats might affect tourism. The U.S. alert falls short of a more severe one in which the State Department might have warned citizens against traveling to Europe. Instead, the alert urges them to take precautions when they do travel.
"We're not saying don't travel to Europe. We are not saying don't visit ... major tourist attractions or historic sites or monuments," Patrick Kennedy, undersecretary of state, told reporters on a conference call.
Said U.S. tourist Tom Steier: "You should take these threats seriously, but right now I feel very safe in Paris."
CONSTANT REVIEW
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero said France had taken the U.S. warning into account: "The terrorist threat remains high in France ... the alert level remains unchanged at red," he said. That is the second highest level.
While anti-terror measures have been mobilized, French Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux told reporters late on Sunday that "We shouldn't be in denial."
"There are several bits of information that have come to light in the last few days, which is what the Americans are confirming today," he said.
A spokesman for Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) declined to detail why the travel advice for France and Germany had been updated. "Like other large European countries, they have a high threat of terrorism, which is reflected in our updated advice."
Advice is under constant review and draws on a variety of sources, the FCO said.
A new potential threat was outlined last week in media reports, partially confirmed by European officials, that Europe could be the target of attacks.
European Union counter-terrorism coordinator Gilles de Kerchove said the plot showed the continent had to do more to impede extremists going overseas to train.
Sweden raised its terrorism threat level on Friday, although it said it was still lower than in other European countries and an attack was not believed to be imminent.
The last successful large-scale militant attacks in Europe were the July 2005 suicide bombings on London's transport system, which killed 52 people. Bombers killed 191 people on trains in Madrid in March 2004.

gee, i WONDER if there'll be any sort of backlash across europe WHEN this particular 'event' occurs?
will the eiffel tower be lying wrecked, across residential streets in paris in repayment for IT's indiscreet profiling of 'religious' groups, unmasking them, which IT certainly (and justly) sees as defending itself while in a very bad situation?
or will it be the royal palace in copenhagen?
stay tuned to 'baseless paranoia-fest'!....=PPP

department of even MORE hubris:
Iran restricts social sciences seen as 'Western'
By NASSER KARIMI, Associated Press Writer Nasser Karimi, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 48 mins ago TEHRAN, Iran – Iran has imposed new restrictions on 12 university social sciences deemed to be based on Western schools of thought and therefore incompatible with Islamic teachings, state radio reported Sunday.
The list includes law, philosophy, management, psychology, political science and the two subjects that appear to cause the most concern among Iran's conservative leadership — women's studies and human rights.
"The content of the current courses in the 12 subjects is not in harmony with religious fundamentals and they are based on Western schools of thought," senior education official Abolfazl Hassani told state radio.
Hassani said the restrictions prevent universities from opening new departments in these subjects. The government will also revise the content of current programs by up to 70 percent over the next few years, he said.
The decision is seen as a response to concerns expressed last year by Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who said the subjects could lead to religious doubts. Khamenei, who has final say on all state matters in Iran, urged officials to take altering the curriculum into "serious consideration."
Some two million out of 3.5 million Iranian university students are studying social sciences and humanities, according to government statistics.
University students have played a key role in opposition protests in Iran, especially after the country's disputed presidential election last year, which opposition activists say hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won through massive fraud.
Since Ahmadinejad came to power in 2005, he has pushed a revival of the fundamentalist goals pursued in the 1980s under the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, father of the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran.
In 2006, dozens of liberal university professors and teachers were sent into retirement, drawing strong protests from students. Liberal and secular professors teach at universities around the country, but they are a minority. Most are politically passive and do not identify with either the hard-liners or the liberal camp.
In 1980, Iran closed down universities for two years to get rid of partisan students of political groups, mostly armed leftist ones.
they neglect the BEST resource of their country, their creative minds. nor is it a benign neglect, this is actively trying to short-circuit peoples' opinion-forming faculties.
crazy motherfuckers THEN think the world will voluntarily allow themselves to be kept hostage by a nation who WILLS itself to the level of 'cave-dweller'.
well-l-l-l, but see.....we WILL be kept hostage IF pre-eminent pigfuckers russia (and france) continue to keep supplying them with fissible materiel. while shrugging their shoulders, saying 'hey, a guy's gotta make a buck, what?!'
'thees ees privat matterRrR. look aVVay!'
sorry assholes, this is NOT a private matter.

no worreez department: Obama’s Remarks on U.S.-Bound ExplosivesPublished: October 29, 2010
The following is a transcript, provided by the White House, of President Obama’s remarks on Friday about the suspicious packages originating in Yemen and bound for the United States:
Related U.S. Hunts for More Suspicious Packages (October 30, 2010)
Good afternoon, everybody. I want to briefly update the American people on a credible terrorist threat against our country, and the actions that we’re taking with our friends and our partners to respond to it.
Last night and earlier today, our intelligence and law enforcement professionals, working with our friends and allies, identified two suspicious packages bound for the United States — specifically, two places of Jewish worship in Chicago. Those packages had been located in Dubai and East Midlands Airport in the United Kingdom. An initial examination of those packages has determined that they do apparently contain explosive material.
I was alerted to this threat last night by my top counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan. I directed the Department of Homeland Security and all our law enforcement and intelligence agencies to take whatever steps are necessary to protect our citizens from this type of attack. Those measures led to additional screening of some planes in Newark and Philadelphia.
The Department of Homeland Security is also taking steps to enhance the safety of air travel, including additional cargo screening. We will continue to pursue additional protective measures for as long as it takes to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.
I’ve also directed that we spare no effort in investigating the origins of these suspicious packages and their connection to any additional terrorist plotting. Although we are still pursuing all the facts, we do know that the packages originated in Yemen. We also know that Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, a terrorist group based in Yemen, continues to plan attacks against our homeland, our citizens, and our friends and allies.
John Brennan, who you will be hearing from, spoke with President Saleh of Yemen today about the seriousness of this threat, and President Saleh pledged the full cooperation of the Yemeni government in this investigation.
Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our cooperation with the Yemeni government to disrupt plotting by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and to destroy this Al Qaeda affiliate. We’ll also continue our efforts to strengthen a more stable, secure and prosperous Yemen so that terrorist groups do not have the time and space they need to plan attacks from within its borders.
The events of the past 24 hours underscores the necessity of remaining vigilant against terrorism. As usual, our intelligence, law enforcement and Homeland Security professionals have served with extraordinary skill and resolve and with the commitment that their enormous responsibilities demand. We’re also coordinating closely and effectively with our friends and our allies, who are essential to this fight.
As we obtain more information we will keep the public fully informed. But at this stage, the American people should know that the counterterrorism professionals are taking this threat very seriously and are taking all necessary and prudent steps to ensure our security. And the American people should be confident that we will not waver in our resolve to defeat Al Qaeda and its affiliates and to root out violent extremism in all its forms.
Thank you very much.

Mexico kills top drug lord at U.S. border
By Robin Emmott Robin Emmott – Sat Nov 6, 12:50 am ET
MONTERREY, Mexico (Reuters) – Mexican marines killed drug baron Ezequiel "Tony Tormenta" Cardenas in a ferocious gunfight at the U.S. border on Friday, a fleeting victory for President Felipe Calderon that is unlikely to quell raging violence.
Around 150 marines backed by helicopters and soldiers fought running battles with members of the powerful Gulf cartel for hours in Matamoros, across from Brownsville, Texas, terrifying residents and briefly shutting border bridges.
Dodging grenades and coming under heavy fire from gunmen hidden in houses and shooting from trucks, the marines moved in on Cardenas, one of Mexico's most-wanted traffickers, and killed him on Friday afternoon, the navy said.
"He died in a shootout with us," a navy spokesman said.
Three marines and four gunmen were killed, the navy said. A reporter was killed after being caught in crossfire, local media reported.
Cardenas, 48, was the brother of former Gulf cartel leader Osiel Cardenas, who was extradited to Texas in 2007. He had a $5 million bounty on his head in the United States and ran the powerful gang with his partner, Jorge Eduardo Costilla, known as El Coss, who is still at large.
Praised in drug ballads, Cardenas won his nickname of "Tony Tormenta" (Tony Storm) for beheading and torturing rivals.
RISK OF MORE VIOLENCE
The Gulf cartel, which dominates trafficking from northeastern Mexico into Central America and has cells across the United States, is pitted against its former armed wing, the Zetas, in an unrelenting turf war.
That violence has spread into Mexico's richest city of Monterrey near the Texas border, in a escalation of the drug war that worries foreign investors with factories in the area.
More than 31,000 people have been killed across Mexico since December 2006, when Calderon took office and launched his army-led crackdown. The government is under increasing pressure to contain the burgeoning death toll across the country.
Drug gangs blocked roads and set fire to gas stations in the colonial city of Morelia in western Mexico on Friday evening after soldiers captured a local drug gang leader, state news agency Notimex said.
Calderon's national security chief Alejandro Poire lauded Cardenas' killing as a major success in weakening the cartels that generate up to $40 billion a year in narcotics sales in the United States.
"Today, we are taking a significant step in dismantling the criminal gangs that do so much damage to our country's population," Poire told reporters.
But drug trade specialists warned the violence will continue as long as Mexico fails to reform the corrupt judicial, police and prison services that help feed the cycle of killings.
"This is unfortunately going to fuel the spiraling violence because rivals will try to take advantage of the Gulf cartel's weakened state," said Pedro de la Cruz, a security analyst at Mexico's National Autonomous University.
Calderon has pledged reform but has failed to get initiatives through a divided Congress, focusing mainly on army-led operations that have led to the capture or killing of several top drug lords since late last year.
But the Zetas, blamed for some of the worst atrocities in the drug war including the murders of 72 migrants in August, appear to be relatively unscathed by the crackdown and their top operators are still at large.
(Additional reporting by Armando Tovar in Mexico City; Editing by Eric Walsh and John O'Callaghan)
tony tormenta's bag man: 'oh shit, i forgot to deliver that payoff to the mayor! what? a couple of hours late and we get THIS?'
31,000 dead over the last four years. an hours-long running siege...across the river from brownsville.
monterrey's getting the same shit.
in western mexico, a leader finally gets arrested in historically/architecturally significant city of morelia and his gangs start torching gas stations.
ad nauseam
small wonder no-one WANTs to stay...
