Obama's a Muslim, of course. Just because he was born in Honolulu doesn't mean he's not the spawn of some evil being. Perhaps an alien.

I could give a fat happy crap if he's a Muslim. I think the truth is probably that he's nonreligious, his being atheist makes more sense and to some is even more sinister then being a Muslim. Also racism is completely okay against Muslims because they're all terrorists.

I think you missed the facetiousness of my tone, Ded. As he put it, "So now maybe we can move on to more important things like how they staged the moon landings" or some such.

I hear people say such things in all seriousness though. It's funny though, we have a muslim, socialist, america hater in office and the republicans still can't scrap together anybody that can beat him. Not yet anyway. I hope they've got a dark horse up their sleeves because right now they've got nobody. In all honesty I'd like to have another option, I don't really like Obama but the GOP is currently sailing the S.S. Crazytown for all she's worth. I really have no choice but to vote for him again.

the ss crazytown set sail with maccain's nomination of palin...or more correctly it was the subsequent unbridled acceptance of all of sarah palin's hard-core 'quirks' among countless fringe self-interests with an ideological axe to grind...snake-healers, hard-core bible-thumpers, they saw a kindred soul in this woman who won't shut up about this crap that NOW she's realized endears her to the worst, most extreme elements of uber-devout X-endom. between palin making the GOP's borderline whackjobs think their beliefs are now the GOP's beliefs...and the democrats as usual are seizing on it, screaming to their believers 'look what they think! they're fucking crazy! we're SO normal!'. that bitch gave recognition to the nuts who perhaps didn't know WHO represented them. now they're fucking OURS, huh? ...between palin and obama's fast and loose shucking and jiving, i don't know who's doing more damage to this country, honestly. ~ i would HOPE jac knew that i was being facetious as well, when i implied that HE is way smarter than the millions of jews in israel. i mean come on, those people are sharp.

Dude, I get what you're saying but I would not use the words "shucking and jiving" in the same sentence as Obama. Just saying.

You focus a lot on Palin in your post, as if she's the one most responsible for the GOP's dismal, ridiculous image. And you are correct to give her the spotlight, because even though she's not the problem she definitely speaks for the right wing mindset. It's the ideology that's the problem and not the babble of a woman who couldn't even govern her own state for a full term. The parade of bozos who are currently contemplating a presidential run (the ones who haven't flaked out already) are a sad lot, indeed, and it doesn't take the democratic party to point out that fact. You may consider yourself an "enlightened Republican", and whether such is the case or not, you can rest assured that the vast majority of your brotherhood aren't nearly as illuminated.

...if the republican party 'hopefuls' seem desperate, they're for SURE no less desperate than the manner in which barack obama was thrown up as something viable during the democrats' needle-in-a-haystack PRAYER of a decision to run him strictly on 2 demographic facts: 1.) a photogenic (1/2) black guy who was 2.) not george bush....
thank david axelrod for the oval office having someone who's about as random a choice as there could be...aside from these 2 notes of serendipity. that he also IS intelligent does not make him the defining world 'player' his confidence (or david axelrod) tells him he suddenly is.

Oh the current GOP is far more desperate then the Dems in '06, they had both a front runner in Clinton and the under dog in Obama...they'd been talking about him running for two years at that point. The republicans have none of that. Not a front runner...a few maybe underdogs but none that have made the same impact that Obama had at this point four years ago. Granted most people still thought Clinton had a lock on it, the field had been narrowed to Clinton or Edwards at this point but people were still excited about Richardson, Kucinch, Dodd and Obama. I don't see any of that this time with the Republicans. Sure, a few of the candidates have a following but there's no one I see anybody getting really excited about.
Palin won't run and can't win if she does, Newt has already sunk his campaign that didn't have a chance anyway, Romney is still the most likely but nobody's really happy about it, Pawlenty and Cain have a long way to go before they have any of hope of actually landing the nomination, Santorum couldn't get it if he was the only guy running. No sir, this is far more desperate then four years ago.

bullshit. there is no such sort of a continuum through those 3 names. especially not through to palin...
what, to you the world's events are happening in a vacuum?
we're talking an outline of an ideology at best. that businesses, once they're succeeding, GROW. and stepwise, wheretf does that lead them?
nice marxist ideal - you have them punished for succeeding, for being all fucking uppity bourgoisie muthafukkas, right?
convert to judaism, move to israel and live on a kibbutz...THAT's what fits you best, shilling shit like this characterization that success of the sort that leads to formation of 'corporations' and prosperity is 'garbage' being fed to people through some sort of an evil monolith.
utter crap, which you'll toss as soon as you personally see some $$ coming in....

The thing those three names have in common is a progression of dumbing down and isolationism of the Republican party. They've been losing power since Reagan and with each passing year they become more paranoid and more removed from reality. In response the Democrats have no choice but to become more incompetent.

the dumbing down of the GOP over those eras, well, hell yes. 'isolationism', i dunno. tho i don't necessarily see 'isolationism' as a bad thing IF (and it's a big 'if') you can pull it off and not piss off too many people, here and 'there'. basically it's wishful thinking, given today's world and everyone's interdependence. it also depends on what you're calling isolationism. i'm guessing extramural not intramural is what you're after. so what's the tack called when so much was made during the past 2 presidential campaigns, of the democrats spouting 'fuck what's going on in the rest of the world, let's fix what's wrong here!' in order to scream 'no!' at bush's involving us in saddam's iraq...what's that if not it's own isolationism? both parties engage in trying to withdraw the country into itself, though the repubs probably do it more in the style of in the past having operated out of positions of power/dominance. well hell, guess what? THAT shit's over. 'incompetence'? that the democratic party's 'gone showbiz' is the nature of the beast....politics as as 'entertainment', the swaying of popularity through what's being broadcast to suit the ends of EITHER party.
the palin-influenced (certainly not palin-LED like some are still insisting here) bible-thumping anti-birth-control group catering to extreme-spectrum (imo) devout christians... and/or the 'we will wrest control' group (aka the 'anyone but bush' group) who've honestly inherited FAR more difficult a job than i think they ever envisioned.

By isolationism, in a party sense, I mean they're making less and less effort to appeal anyone who isn't their core base. The tea party is direct result of that a group that has deluded themselves into believing that whatever they are so is America with only a slight notion of what that is. They are a direct result of faux flag waving pseudo patriotic pandering of the last 40 years. They've become the party of back door assimilation.
