Greetings potential voters and welcome to my campaign thread.

Before we begin, let me explain in a bit more detail what brought you here and what I plan on doing about it.

Within the CE community, chaos reigns and strife breeds. Comics overrun the discourse and hostilities derail conversation. CE is a mess, a mess due to the explicit fault of no one, but an unfortunate reality that befalls all political conversation: stubbornness, rigid ideology and arrogance.

I am to remedy this situation the only way one can: ruling with an Iron Fist of Justice.

The thoughts that must be going through your head right now probably resemble these:

"Why should we trust Shin?"
"Why should we 'take control' of CE away from Strat-o?"
"What will Shin bring to the table that will change any of the problems that befall us now?"

Among others, no doubt. But let me answer them individually.

- You should trust me because I have experience handling and defending message boards vigorously. The Neil Sedaka boards have operated slightly less longer than the Castaway boards, and they have been well protected from both trolls and in-house arguments alike. I do not tolerate crap from my constituents, giving stern warnings to those who step out of line, though I have never once deleted a post I simply didn't like. I would not do so in CE nor do I even want to. I believe that debate must run it's course, but a strong will can go a long way in keeping people from misbehaving.

- Strat-o is a fine admin who only has the best interests of all of us at heart. He has sought from Day One to provide us displaced Stoners with a safe haven for our community. I have experienced his generosity and wisdom and kindness on numerous occasions when dealing with problems. I give him strong A's across the board and I don't think Castaways would be a fun place without someone so dedicated to neutrality. That being said, I believe that perhaps new leadership is in line for the CE board and the CE board alone. As a global admin, Strat-o will never truly relinquish any powers, and any distribution of power will merely be ceremonial and tentative. But as I see it, the demands of dealing with over 100 posters and keeping abreast of all the threads and boards can be a taxing experience. And sometimes, kindness and neutrality can breed insubordination. I believe I have the skills to manage CE effectively while given some much needed respite to Strat-o in his thankless task of keeping us all happy.

- What I will bring to the CE table is a vibrancy not seen in CE since it's inception. For too long we are at the mercy of dull 300 page threads, never taking full advantage of the Proboards advantages we have in front of us. I envision a board filled with specialty threads, educational threads, polls, and political safe havens. I envision threads dedicated to Conservative, Liberal, Libertarian, Green and Independent schools of thought, rigorously guarded from undue intrusion. I envision threads dedicated to breaking news. I envision European and Canadian politics threads. I envision threads dedicated to hot topics and controversies. I envision polls, polls, polls, for only in Democracy can we truly appreciate global politics! These promises I will work vigorously to maintain, uphold and defend.

There will be more to come in the next week. I shall hold a special vote, yay or nay, pertaining to my candidacy. At that point, you can all vote on whether or not you believe I can live up to my promises. While it is ultimately strat-o's decision one way or the other, I hope that he will honor the will of the people, no matter what their voice calls for.

My friends, today I'd like to bring to your attention the current strife concerning Reverend Pissin's banning, of which I beseech you to alleviate.

In today's modern board posting society, there are certain levels of decorum and expected behaviors. Actions such as intentional board bombing and harassing are absolutely unacceptable. Impersonating or hacking is outright punished. Yet there are lesser levels of "annoyance" that do not fall so easily into policable categories.

It is these levels that I believe Reverend Pissin's behavior lies in, and it is this fact that drives me to make a plea for forgiveness and understanding.

How many among us have not gone off topic, allowed an annoying conversation/argument to go on longer than necessary, made a joke in poor humor, upset a fellow poster?

All of us, I should dare say.

What then, separates Reverend Pissin from the Castaway masses that hold him now in scorn?

Ask yourself:

To what end do we regulate humor?
To what end do we regulate off topic conversation?
To what end do we regulate playfulness?
To what end do we regulate our own voices? Our own souls? Our own essence?
To what end do we regulate how a man strives to become himself without the harsh judgment of his peers?

When Reverend Pissin was banned, the innocence of the board was lost. Innocence lost like the sacred dust within the catacombs of the forgotten. Innocence lost like the passionate love letters of our grandparents consumed in the fires that engulfed and destroyed our childhood homes. Innocence lost like a young girl placing a message in a bottle in the sea, a message that reads "Santa, come home, we miss you".

...and yet, there is still time to regain that innocence and make Current Events whole again.

I implore you all to hold Reverend Pissin accountable for his actions in a FAIR and IMPARTIAL trial, upon which he will be voted upon by his peers. A guilty vote finds him banished to the land of wind and ghosts, forever to roam like the shamed Ronin of bygone eras. A not guilty vote reinstates him into the CE community, his past condemnation wipe clean from his record.

Let me begin by saying I assure you this campaign has the will of the people and the common good as it's guiding force. We want only to serve this board to best of our abilities. Good morning all. As campaign manager for a better tomorrow, I am here to assure you all that the Shin for Board Mod campaign will be run in the most ethical, most turstworthy of ways to ensure that all voices, both assertive and dissenting, will be given ample floor time. Of course, I am first and foremost Shin's campaign manager, and as such it is my sworn duty to successfully see the vision of our great leader carried out for the betterment of all Castaways.
