I can't get into the whole mash-up thing. Anything I should go out of my way to change my mind for, maarts? The thing about mashups is that they're much more easily appreciated if you like all of the bands and songs that are being mashed together. One of my favorite mashups is a relatively simple (yet effective) meshing of the Temptations "Ball of Confusion" with the Beatles' "I Am The Walrus" (called, incidentally, "Walrus Confusion"). Now I can see that if a person is not much of a Beatles or Temptations fan they might not care for it. But it is uncanny how perfectly the lyrics and melody to the Beatles track fits into the music from "Ball of Confusion". I like both of those bands, and both of those songs, so that's probably why I enjoy it so much. It's almost like a novelty, though I think most of the mashups I've heard will bear many repeated listenings. The only mashups I'll listen to are the ones where I really know the songs. That pairing of the Beatles' "Paperback Writer" with the Monkees' "I'm a Believer" was what got the ball rolling for me. Now that's a perfect recipe.

The Sproutts...Flying Out Of The Washing Machine ...I'd have listened to this album probably more than I've ever listened to any album....I still can play it 3 times in a row and love it every time.....head and shoulders above anything else I heard this year....when FF say "You could have it so much better", this is the CD they want you to listen to....yeah it is just so much better....

Absolutely gotta go with you on Young Team Riley... sensational disc that one, utterly enthralling and captivating music.
Right now my pretty regular favourite is the incredibly well made album "Franctions" by an Aussie band called Decoder Ring... it's got just about all things I love in music...
A bit of electronica, mixed in with some heavier rock stuff and then some softer lighter atmospherics... utterly fantastic stuff! Very regular disc in my player! :-) :-)
