Fantastically said Maarts. There is a huge difference between attacking a viewpoint, and attacking a person for holding that viewpoint. That difference has been lost - or ignored - around here. That difference does not exist in my eyes, but we've discussed that. |

I think there's difference between attacking person in general and attacking a person for holding certain viewpoints. Too often the attacks around here gets generally personal.

No, I'm not being serious.
Personally, I think it'd be pretty sweet to have some brainiac type conservatives, Ph D sorta folks who can use the giant words and sound like they've read too many books. There were a few of these in the olden days of RS.
Not bashing the other conservatives on these boards, of course. Just that too often, some of the more "down to earth" liberal type posters come off looking as untouchable because they've got a Drum or a Blaney to back up their points. The cons just need more nerds on the team over here. There used to be a few of them on the old RS.

Luke, you're spot on. But Chrisfan has always been able to back up her viewpoints pretty well but it's hard to do it all by yourself. Thing though is that every time when you are being told how moronic you are by supporting certain political views it's like being bludgeoned with a leg of lamb. You get tired of it.
Kenny, you make a lot of sense to me most of the time but I do absolutely not agree with your assessment that there's no difference between attacking the view or the man. See, I challenge your view that you post here and not call you a fuckwit for saying that right here. That's the difference.

When it comes to solepoet.... LMFAO! Since I really don't remember much about solepoet, this pretty much summed up my reaction as well. Don't remember anything good about him, though. Surely we can dig up a better representative of the thoughtful right than this! Can't we? |
