I don't know, some nostalgia was never meant to be brought up and embraced, like BK Knights or slap bracelets. Reminding us all of the lameness can be sorta edgy, in that "hey, remember the time we were all fucking idiots back in high school?" kind of way

Cat Stevens music career began just as folk rock and psychadelia were replacing folk music as the voice of the coutnerculture. But he represented the hippy ethos on into the 70s. His accoustic style was not as sharp as Yes or Led Zeppelin's accustic forays, but his voice and lyrics and the simplicity of his sound were all just as beautiful. Listen to 'Katmandu', 'The Wind', 'Into White' or 'The boy with the moon & star on his head' as examples. His lyrics like Donovon, Led Zepelin and Genesis at times would delve into mystical adventures, but he also allowed social commentary, philosophy and relationship ponderings to fill his lyric sheets. By the late 70s he was doing children songs and had devoted his life to the Islam religion. But in his time Cat Stevens represented the phenomenon of the hippy culture in his own unique way: peace and flowers, imagination and love...

If you're not going to carve up Cat Stevens, you're need to take that nonsense elsewhere. This is officially the "Cat Stevens Is A Dirty Old Boring Hippie" thread now. Cat Stevens hates our freedom. He should be sent to Guantanamo Bay for, um, interrogations.

Cat Stevens is a freedom hater. Bozo is a freedom lover. No, I think Bozo hates freedom, too. Otherwise he wouldn't be trying to steal movies and toilet paper.

Unrelated note: I'm so fucking bored... goddamn flooding. If any of you turns to CNN they've been covering the flooding here in Binghamton throughout the day.

I'm begining to think I hate freedom...it's just so tuanting. Freedom says to me "you can do whatever you want" but when I go to the store with no pants on the police tell me freedom was appearently wrong. Freedom's a lying bastard.

Freedom = the ability to make as much money as possible. But if you are crippled and have made as much money as possible, you couldn't even have the freedom to run through a field of barley... So your definition is wrong.
