Also, you couldn't send Hezbollah into Thunderdome in their entirety. There'd have to be a system where maybe terrorist groups rank their members in ascending order, who then battle similarly ranked members of opponent armed forces. Like a points system.
Under this method of global warfare, there would be no tolerance for people who are all talk no action, or for leaders who hide in caves. A no-show would automatically give your opponent 50 points. Repeated no-shows = TKO.

well, I didn't win it strictly because of my breasts. It was their efforts in inspiring greater world peace through the capture of terrorist leaders that clinched it for me. Till that bastard Bono got in the race.
Thunderdome warfare systems may just win it back for me.

Is ethnicity the same as race though? Although I guess since race is a completely made up thing, it can sort of refer to whatever people want it to refer to. I think 'ethnicity' is a cultural term, whereas 'race' is more a biological one. Jews are not a 'race' by any biological standard - they're considered caucasian along with (most) Europeans, as well as parts of central Asia/the Middle East. Then again, the way humans are currently classified into races is very flawed. As Luke & Rocky have both said, the term 'Jew' refers to anything you want it to, an ethnicity, culture & religion. But not strictly a race. As I understand from a class I took as an undergrad (the politics of race), the concept of race is an almost completely arbitrary and not necessarily biological standard of characterization. Racial minority classification is determined by the majority "racial" population of a given region when they arbitrarily single out characteristics in people that are not in keeping with the standards of the majority; to whit, in America, white majority looked at brown skin, big lips, whatever, and called that "black". This is obvious if you take any time and look at the ridiculous racial classification system of apartheid South Africa, and when you consider that "racism" still exists between "blacks" in Africa, only instead of focusing on skin color, certain majority groups picked out arbitrary things like neck length or a person's height to determine what constitued different races in their region. This is, of course, completely irrelevant, but who cares? |

I'd like to see global conflicts fought in a Thunderdome. Two world leaders enter. One world leader leaves. we don't need another heeeero...Saddam actually did challenge Bush to something like this, but W totally pussed out. If Junior would have just hit the roids and spent a few weeks at an MMA training camp, he may have been able to prevent this whole mess in the first round. |

For all his shortcomings, I have no doubts in my mind that GWB could kick Saddam's ass in a fair fight. He stays in some pretty good shape, and Saddam was living all lavishly, eating Doritos and just lazing around his palaces. He wouldn't have stood a chance.

Well then we'd just have to make sure Ken and Guile are present at W's MMA camp to teach him how to shoot stuff out of his hands and do that fire flip kick thing.
Saddam would prolly be a bit more like M. Bison, though. Which I guess is even more dangerous.
CWA and I used to argue about this, and I always thought GWB could take Saddam. Saddam would certainly be a less restrained, more sadistic fighter, but he's so fat and lazy.
